Questions & Answers

A power source can be found at pin #9 on the serial port?

It is not possible to output power on Pin 9 of the ICUSB2321F USB to Serial Adapter

I'm not too tech savvy so i can't help you there. Would this let me connect a second led display that has a VGA plug to this? I would like to have a secondary display monitor for my computer. ?

I cannot connect a printer to this, because this is for connecting a serial communication device. Despite the fact that the pins look similar (this is 9 and video pins usually reach 15), it will not work for video/displays.

Do I have the option of allocating communications? Using ch1 as an example, com1 would be ch1. Do you mean chapter 16 and chapter 16?

It is possible to assign and change the COM ports on an Also available is ICUSB23216FD COM port retention, which makes it possible to retain ports values assigned to serial COM ports The Support Center at com

Is this USB to Serial adapter compatible with all scenarios that would be met by any other USB to Serial adapter? FTDI stood for free terminal device interface. I needed to replace one and wasn't sure what it ?

The answer is YES. I like it even better. As far as the adapter goes, it works the same as any other USB to Serial adapter, like the Belkin or another manufacturer's. Even so, it has some better features and I'm sure I will remember the COMM PORT used so it will "always" work every time when you plug it in or take it out. YOU WILL BE APPLIED WITH THE BEST APPLICATION YOU HAVE EVER HAD. ALL THE OTHERS WERE THROWN OUT. Since I am a Ham Operator, I have a lot of devices I do not always use, which I unplug, but when I plug them back in they act like new hardware. Suddenly, I got these ones, which always remembered the correct Com Port settings, so I can have a lot of devices connected to them, like my test equipment. It will work with the software, and I won't have to remember anything. IF YOU WANT ME TO RECOMMEND ANY, THIS IS THE ONLY ONE. This is something you're going to love and you'll be so happy about it.

UART support is limited to FreeBSD, so pay attention to FreeBSD support There's no such thing as it Neither standard nor proprietary, and neither is documented! For those of you who are technically inclined, here is what you need to know The FreeBSD operating system is not supported
3/5

An application I needed to run on FreeBSD was a good match for that platform. Make sure you check /usr/src/sys/dev/pub/pucdata if you need FreeBSD support. It can be located in /usr/src/sys/dev/uart/uart_bus_pci or /usr/src/sys/dev/uart/uart. Make my mistake of forgetting to check the kernel for hardware support work in your favor.

The card is properly identified under FreeBSD (it is possible to enumerate the PCI bus and identify the card) but no driver for the 16C1050 is available. Is a 16C1050 UART just something you plug into the computer? For some reason, I'm unable to find the technical specifications of It means that even if I wanted to modify the FreeBSD puc kernel driver, I wouldn't be able to because there are no published specifications for this UART. In other words, this is more than just this board you should also exercise caution if this board has the term "compatible with 16C550". On Amazon, you can find this board and others like it. A . com should be avoided at all costs because it will require undocumented vendor drivers that will end up being difficult to update once they are installed. I suggest that you find yourself a native 16550A, 16650, 16750, or 16950 UART on your board.

Pciconf output I wrote ****pcib3@pci0 The class number is 060400, the card number is 00000000, the chip number is 10801b21, and the HDR code is 0x01*BR> The vendor is This device is an 'ASM1083/1085 PCIe to PCI bridge'

Driver support is listed in both the uart and puc drivers of the FreeBSD On this board, there are two native interfaces supporting 16950. You can see from the image that the SIIG with the Oxford chipset has full support and I have verified that! It is an excellent alternative to The serial to USB cable that my wife used to connect her court reporting machine to her laptop was an older model
5/5

I had trouble getting it to work consistently after upgrading to Windows 10. Upon doing a great deal of research, we found out that the original cable had an out-of-date chipset. I was able to set up this new cable quickly and it seems to be working perfectly.

On MacOS Big Sur, there is no hiccup
5/5

My favorite screen capture app for MacOS, Big Sur, has been updated Plugging into a USB port It seems that the serial adapter made by TripLite, Keyspan, has There is no driver available for the Prolific UART chip in the Keyspan when Big Sur requires signed drivers. It works right out of the box since it has a FTDI chip. There is no need for a driver just connect a USB stick to the device All that's needed is a C adapter to plug in and it works.

WIN 8 is actually compatible with Startech
5/5

At first, I purchased a Gearhead USB to serial converter from a local computer store to use with my new Dell Inspiron 3000 PC running the Windows 8 operating system. This is a bad move! My bad. I should have checked the reviews on Amazon first. The Gearhead unit came with a driver disk, and on the box it claimed that it was compatible with Windows 8. This is incorrect. A Windows alarm is displayed in Device Manager in case there is not enough virtual memory for the driver. However, I was not able to get it working. The item has been returned to the I bought the StarTech adaptor via Amazon because it has been recommended by Amazon users and it is capable of running on The USB end was successfully plugged into my Dell and the driver was discovered by Windows via Windows Update as soon as it arrived. Had to load the driver from disk but it didn't need to be done. I used my Dylos Laser Particle Counter that does not have a serial port to do particle counts on the PC and everything worked out perfectly. A six foot cable with a Startech adapter is six This is especially important when monitoring counts from a fairly large particle counter in real time. The laptop must be set up.

The older weather station works better with this than the serial port
5/5

It is no longer possible to connect the older weather station to my older computer because it lacks a serial port. It was easy to set up the StarTech USB to serial adapter. Activate Windows 10's driver detection and let it do its work. My old computer connected it to the serial port, but it worked much better here. Despite having another brand of weather station adapter, it did not work well with my Appearances of it would be followed by their disappearance. There is a workaround for StarTech.

Installers of equipment with serial console connections will find this tool very useful
5/5

I have saved a lot of time with this product. For the initial setup of the storage arrays that I install for a living, the arrays require a serial connection. The ability to have both a console session and a controller session open at the same time has saved me from having to switch cables back and forth. I have tested this on both Windows 10 Pro and Mac OS, and I have found it to work as advertised. Installers of equipment with serial console connections will find this tool very useful. As far as Cisco and Dell software goes, it works just fine Using the Compellent SC4020 proprietary serial cables as well as over cables is also available.

I don't understand why the cable and machine work fine, but not with the Startech Unit)
3/5

Initially I thought my computer was the problem as I could not get the card to work. I contacted support who were good at checking the unit by a loop back test, but not able to provide further assistance

In my case, I got my PC up and running and got my hardware to work with the com1 integrated port, but it would not work with any of the Startech My hardware vendor advised me to contact my onboard connector vendor when my onboard com1 did not work with their unit, their unit using the same port settings and cable did not work. I called support for assistance. The startech unit (although my computer com1 and cable work fine) does not work.

Too bad as I really wanted to replace my two port siig and my ugreen usb to RS232 (which work fine too).

It was a breeze to install and set up the serial card! PCs without serial ports do not exist anymore, so I had to find another way to communicate with an (old) Install and setup of this card were quick and easy, although it took a little assistance in installing the driver
