I like it very much
5/5

It was very easy to install Centos 6 and set it up. There were drivers for it in CentOS 4 so if you are wondering if it will work with CentOS 6, then the answer is yes. The answer is yes. I was able to set up Raid 5 with a HS without a problem in the BIOS at boot up.

Provides excellent performance and is a pleasure to use
5/5

It has been about 9 months since I installed this card, and it has worked extremely well since then. It supplies very good performance when paired with Sata III drives with speeds up to In order to achieve this, it is necessary to tweak the card's default settings a little, but doing so releases the potential of the card. Otherwise, you will not see outstanding results. It is in the documentation, which isn't very good, so I would be inclined to knock it. You must be careful even when using the online documentation as what you see is not always what you get. Perhaps you would like to use the board for connectivity and not just raid (more on why later), but the documentation states that you cannot operate the board in this way. When you call Intel support, they will tell you the same thing, except that you can do it yourself. It is accomplished by creating a Virtual Disk with one drive (LUN, and your OS will have one drive to use. This may be due to the fact that you do not have enough empty drives available to build the Raid group you want at first. It turned out that I did not have enough empty 3TB drives available for me to build the raid group I wanted. I therefore began to empty a few and build the raid team. As I explained earlier, I copied the data from the JBOD disk to the raid group, then deleted the virtual drive which became the raid group, and finally added the virtual drive Using multiple disk drives to build large raid groups is an effective way to reduce costs. I appreciate this product and would buy it again if that was the case. If you are not familiar with setting up raid groups, you should familiarize yourself before using this card. Or, you should just use the basic features.
