It is hardly new technology to have a Serial DB9 port. The problem is that finding a solution that will work on a modern PC running Windows 10 has proven difficult. Initially I tried a USB to DB9 converter, but it did not work as intended. It took me a few tries to get this card to work. After I got it installed, it works flawlessly. I am giving it 5 stars since after it was installed, it worked flawlessly. I was likely to find a straightforward solution if I had ignored the Windows 10 installation instructions and simply used the native support. Still, I installed the Star Tech software according to the directions. The result is that serial ports are not available. Star Tech software was tricky to uninstall, as it caused the PC to crash several times. The card did work quite nicely under Windows 10, however, once it was removed from the PC. I manually installed the Star Tech driver as directed, but I did not have any The uninstallation (in two steps) crashed the PC twice. Windows 10, however, can support the card natively, thus eliminating half of the crashes.

After installation, the computer would not boot. I tried another brand and it worked.
