It is clear that the card has been used and is not in its original packaging. br>br>"SAS9207-" is clearly imprinted on the card. 8e" on the back, but the card has been flashed in order for it to be recognized as a SAS2803br>br>The hardware of the SAS2803 is very similar, but not identical. Whereas the 9207 only supports JBOD, the 2803 is supposed to support raid 0/1. br>br>I'm not sure if it's because of a firmware difference or because the card is DOA, but Ubuntu only recognizes one of the card's 12 drives. It's possible that this is due to old vdisk configurations, but commands like mpt-ttttttttttttttttttttttttt Since I have enclosures with backplanes on the other end, it could also be a hardware issue not properly supporting NCQ (card is supposed to support at least 256 devices if not 1024, and specs say it should support NCQ). br>br>This could be due to a mismatch of firmware Vs Hardware, or it could be defective hardware. Flashing the hardware could be dangerous if the card is bad, and the instructions I found for downgrading the firmware would require me to install it on a Windows box because the commands in Ubuntu don't work to clear the flash (which is required before a downgrade). br>br>I'm going to have to return this because I can't get it to work without risking damaging the firmware.
308 is configured as a JBOD and is connected to this card in an unraid server. Everything was simple to set up and use. The JBOD backplane was connected to the card via an 8087 to 8088 cable, and unraid detected all of the drives, which I added to my share. br>This was my first time doing something like this, and it went off without a hitch. I would strongly suggest it.
Ubuntu recognized it right away, and it now supports a 60-drive Jbod chassis with all of its drives. Perfect.
However, this is an exceptional victory. It was simple to set up. It appeared in Device Manager shortly after booting up. When I connected a drive and transferred a file, I was taken aback. at SATA's maximum transfer rates …. not the USB transfer rates The speed of SATA drives.
Ubuntu 20 does not require the installation of a driver. The card is detected by 04, and an HDD can be plugged into a hot swap enclosure and formatted.
Perfect, exactly what I needed, and it worked right out of the box on Windows 10.
Great job on the hba. Supports up to 1024 hard drives and has dual external USB ports that are ideal for connecting jbods. There are no cables included in this package. Included is a low-profile bracket.
