There will be no need for any drivers. Bring those old IDE drives back to life! I ordered this for my Linux machine (which runs four different distros) because the new ASUS board (N68C-1) didn't work with the others. The GX4FX) didn't have an IDE port, so I couldn't use it with my IDE dock. I plugged the board into the PCI slot, connected the old dock cable to port 1 on the board, and rebooted the machine; everything was fine, with all three SATA drives and one IDE drive detected and running! br>br>Simple, cheap, and easy way to make use of those old IDE drives that are just sitting around collecting dust or stripping old data. Just a word of warning: To find the one that works, you may need to experiment with the master/slave pin arrangement on the back of your IDE drive.
There are no instructions provided. When it does work, it's a hit-or-miss situation. This card didn't get along with my HP, but a bios update fixed that. I was able to access two old non-public documents as a result of this. SATA drives should be cloned to SATA drives.
It isn't compatible with Windows 7 or 10. Best of luck in your search for transportation. br>I'm hoping that a Microsoft update will bring drivers to the table.
Well, it works fine on a shared bus for a 133 or 33, and I was mainly testing ide dvd drives with it.
Simple to install, and it's given a new lease on life to an old machine I'm resurrecting.
Perfect.
It accomplishes the task at hand. It performs admirably.
I'm using it with Unraid to use some older PATA drives, and it's a great add-on card.
