Questions & Answers

What if I want to expand the HD bays on my Lenovo Ts440 ?

As far as I can tell, the raid host adapter had terrible performance. There were always drives absent from the bios and it took too long for the screen to fade out, so it seems to have been unstable from the start. It is unlikely I will buy a high point if I buy another RAID host adapter. As far as I am aware, I used four HP sas drives at 15K rpm. I also want to point out that my LG blue ray burner NEVER appeared Only if I hooked it up to my native motherboard SATA ports would I be able to make use of it

Installing the card on a PCI-X bus is possible The express version is number What if there was no ?

Backward compatibility between 0 and 2 is available. The numeric value is 0 and the numerical value is 16 A card needing 8 lanes will fit into a lane slot. For example, if you have another x16 for your graphics card, then you will end up running the Highpoint at x8 on that other x16 as well. Sometimes both lanes are used at the same time. As far as I can tell, this is Probably, running your graphics card on 8 lanes is perfectly fine. You will have to check the manual for your motherboard for the actual implementation.

Are you able to run this in a PCI-Express slot Can I use an x16 slot whose speed is capped at x4? A. (p. What is the MSI AM1I) version?

You will be able to use it. In my case, I have two Seagate 6TB drives. It seems like you will have full speed up to four drives, but only half of that up to eight

How long will it take for a raid 5 array running on a rocket raid 2220 to be attached to this card?

As for the RR 2220, I do not have any experience with it, but I have worked with many other HighPoint products You can buy technical cards. As far as I can tell, your existing RAID-0 array is not suitable With the RR 2720 Card, most HighPoint cards, including the RR-5, will operate. Just make sure you have the RR-2720 compatibility code for the card. Install the current WebGUI version in the 2720 with the latest driver and the latest driver. Be sure to remove your existing RAID-1 before you attach your new one

In contrast, performance is significantly worse when no array is present
3/5

Firstly, I have some good news to share Setup was simple, the firmware update was simple, and the installation My RAID5 array of six drives took several hours to setup, but once it was done, I had a large, fault-tolerant drive. It works well for fault tolerance as well For my 6-inch computer, I bought 7 disks In case of disk failure My first disk failed 10 days after I started using the array. I had a swap enclosure. As the card made a horrible racket, I knew that something serious was happening. I pulled the bad disk, plugged in my spare and then the array started to rebuild. My computer had been back up and running for a few hours. I have bad news to tell you There is a lot of room for improvement in terms of performance. Originally, I intended to use this cluster for my entire gaming of all kinds since it represented a much larger storage area and was, supposedly, fast, with 6 disks. Indeed, it's big. There is no such thing as fast. Benchmark tests demonstrate that it has slightly better metrics than my software RAID1 System drive, but not by very much. There are also stutters and pauses when just streaming media (compressed video, mp3 files) from the array. The Disk Activity in the Task Manager shows each of these pauses taking place with the array spike to 100% activity. Exaggerated stuttering is also regularly experienced by games (even old games that hardly require any CPU power or disk performance at all) from this array, and they become more or less unplayable. It was for this very reason that I bought it. I found the suggestion to disable the drive cache while researching online. Some of that seemed to be helpful, but not a great deal. The card was tweaked to my liking, I researched what I could, but I've come to the conclusion that it's best used for redundant storage as long as performance isn't an issue, such as At the moment, I am deeply frustrated with this card and therefore need to look for a different option to meet In addition, I have also included a snapshot of the performance of the drive. It's pathetic to max out at 60MB/s when six SATA III drives are arranged in a RAID array.

A HighPoint RAID card I have used for several years failed a second time
3/5

This is the first time that I have encountered this issue. build and sell media servers with RAID, so I used the RR2302 with 1 to 5 multipiers, the RR620 with 1 to 5 multipiers, the RR 640L and over a year ago--The RR640L. They are the only ones who can 2720SGL in RR. My experience with them has never been anything but positive. RR 640L and four 10TB IronWolf HDDs in RAID5 have been used in my own server for more than two years. As my space has run out, I decided to expand the volume from 30 to 50TB and turned on RAID6 for added In the past year, I've received no problems with RR 2720A, which is a replacement for 2720SGL, which has been working flawlessly for many years in my client computers. Before installing this card, I built a backup server from spare parts and copied all documents and media onto the backup server which took a lot of time to complete.
I then hooked up this card using cables that I purchased In addition to RAID5, I also started RAID6 conversion. The system failed after a few hours. A hole appears in the controller and I touch it to find that it is very hot, my fingers are burning.
It's because of this that I gave only one star. The controller on 2720A is hot (the RR640L does not have a radiator and is not hot) and therefore, they need to build a fan on the card.
I restarted my computer, but the controller was dead. I requested a A 140mm fan for the new card (Picture 1) was installed before the new controller arrived, later amended to a 120mm fan. I had no problems with the new card. Even though I was able to create a RAID6, all data from the array has been lost. In order to test the new 50TB volume, I copied the data from the auxiliary server to the new array, copied the data from some additional disks and SD cards, arranged the data in some new folders, and verified that the system worked. This was a mistake on my part. During the night, I turned off the server, installed the cover, and left it off. As soon as the server was started, I opened management to check the HDD temperatures and RAID status, and copied more data onto the server, but after around 1 hour, the controller started beeping and the failure of FOUR HDDs was indicated. When did all four of them stop working at the same time? They had worked for two years without glitch on I restarted server and everything went back to normal, no issue with disks. (Picture 2 and 3). It is hard to tell if the fan is working properly, but the controller wasn't warm. It's practically freezing when it comes to HDDs. There are no persons who are warmer than 87° F (Picture 4). The system worked fine until I tried to copy few movies to the array (Picture 5). After 90 minutes the same problem occurred. There is no data in the array. Here are a few options I tried There is one more PCIe slot available. In the same way. The controller failed after 90 minutes, but after re-starting for another hour, hour and re-insertion of the cables, it worked the second time. In the same way. After I removed all software related to HighPoint controller, reinstalled drivers, and reinstalled RAID management 2, everything went back to working as usual. As soon as I started the server, I felt confident that it worked, since it started rebuilding RAID6 within three hours of starting or restarting. The attempt was again unsuccessful. The power didn't get turned on, I just left it on. I started the server this morning to allow him to finish rebuilding the array, but the machine failed as soon as it started. The only thing I did was stand still. My mouse and keyboard didn't work, nor was I able to access the server. A frozen landscape. The controller is enough for me, I'm done. Can you explain in more detail why you are 100% certain that the controller is faulty? Due to the fact that I never received an email after falling and could not open the RAID management when it started The decision is still on the fence for me. In my case, I don't want to go back to RAID5, because it's better to use RAID6 with 10TB HDDs, so I have the following two options Replacing RR 2720A should be done a second time or returning it and replacing it with RR 4520SGL is also an option. It appears that 4520 will not be able to recognize my RAID6 and I will have to rebuild my entire system. The RR 2720A has been a terrible experience to work with, and very time consuming. Those who like this controller aren't likely to enjoy it. Despite my efforts, I am unable to add pictures for some reason. There is no option such as this. The following data has been updated as of April 8, The replacement 2720A is scheduled for May 1st. The order for RR 4520SGL can also be shipped on May 1st. I received information that this replacement will be sent out on May 1st. I am stunned. This has been a long time coming.
*View the April 10 update Three new controllers were delivered to me. Wow, I love Amazon! I was surprised at how fast it arrived. opened a new ticket with HighPoint as well. My next post will be an update on this story.
