Questions & Answers

Is there a way to get this card for less than three times its current price?

Yes. br>Visit a site like Cyberpower for more information. com to personalize a computer that includes this card. You can get the whole computer for less than the graphics card alone from these scalpers.

Why is this card being sold at a higher price than the manufacturer's suggested retail price? It is available for $1799 at Best Buy. 99?

Wait for nvidia to produce enough of them, which should take about 4 to 5 months. This is why you should never buy brand new parts or next-gen consoles here; instead, you should get a new tv or cpu/mobo/ddr5 ram/next-gen ps5 like Intel optane ssd/1200w plat psu for building your multi-media workstation/cable tv/gaming all-in-one pc. If you need to upgrade, buy another gpu to use with nvlink until motherboard makers develop a way to use multiple gpus without needing an nvlink to do proper gpu scaling via the motherboard chipsets and cpu here as even Intel's own ghost canyon could theoretically be used in your pc desktop custom build if you're into that sort of thing like running an why from your desktop or monitor to see how it would work for a future infinite refresh rate/re

Is it possible to get the red clown lips with this model?

It does not, in fact. This seller was the one who sold mine to me in December 2020. The clown lips shape is still present at the card's end, but it is now entirely black.

Is it necessary for me to have an extra room in my apartment to accommodate this ten-slot graphics card? I'm not sure where I'll be able to store it. ?

It's doable, but I'd suggest talking to your landlord about adding an extension to the building with a GPU support so he doesn't get slapped with building code violations.

A 1080ti's performance is halved: I bought this 3090 to replace my 1080ti, and it performs half as well as the 1080ti

I own an IT firm and have tried everything to fix this card, but technical support is stumped. WARNING: BE AWARE! I'd hold off until they've worked out the kinks in the system.

Do not purchase from someone who is charging a thousand dollars more than the manufacturer's suggested retail price
3/5

Make them eat their own inventory and sell at a reasonable price; the price will come down eventually. These cards don't perform well enough to be worth twice as much as they're being sold for. If you don't buy, the industry will get the message quickly enough, and NVIDIA's stock will drop due to poor sales. Let the "scalping" storm pass you by.

- Type in "nvidia rtx 3090 failure rate" and see what comes up

There are issues with EVGA RTX cards. Update: This was a four-star review written on March 11th, 2021. I can't believe this card just died tonight. br>br>I can't believe this card just died tonight. It died just as I walked into a room where I was playing Bioshock Remastered on Steam. There was no crazy fight going on because I had just started the game. The fans on the cards cranked up, and the monitor's signal died. When I placed my hand on the case, the card began to emit a tremendous amount of heat. A brick in its entirety. br>br>I've never had problems with EVGA cards before, but after looking up 3090 failure rates, it appears that EVGA is having serious problems. br>br>Given the price we're paying due to GPU stock shortages, avoid any company that is having problems with their RTX cards. I've heard EVGA has excellent customer service, which I sincerely hope is true, as this is a major setback. br>br>______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ In the four days I've been playing with it, there hasn't been a single noticeable hiccup in terms of frame drops. br>I replaced my RTX 2080 Super with a GTX 1080 Ti. Higher average frame rates resulted in a noticeable increase in frame rates. At maximum settings, this translates to a smoother game experience. The increase was between 15 and 20 percent when playing Borderlands 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. @ 1440, 20. I should also mention that there is a physical onboard Overclock switch on this card, which is set to Normal. This is something I haven't tried yet. br>br>It's LARGE and HEAVYbr>There's no avoiding it. The length and width are substantial, so I'd think about the case you're going to use it in. ie: Your case should be kept at a comfortable temperature and have plenty of airflow. It's three lanes wide, so there shouldn't be much in the way of those fans. For comparisons to an RTX 2080 Super, see the images attached. Medium-sized cases with a lot of components inside can be difficult to keep cool. br>br>RTX: Real-Time Execution (RTX): Real-Time Execution (RTX) Real-Time Ray Tracing and DLSSbr>While RTX can produce some truly stunning effects when used, it is still very expensive when enabled. It takes away an average of 20 frames per second in Cyberpunk 2077, and while the game already has some impressive visuals, I believe those extra frames would be better spent in actual fights. DLSS 2. The real technology worth writing about in this case is 0 (zero). It truly achieves some impressive scaling, which results in impressive performance gains. br>br>Power Hungrybr>I'm using a two-year-old EVGA 1000 Watt PSU to power an OC'd CPU, 32GB system RAM, two HDs, one SSD, and an optical drive, and this card has three 8-pin power connectors, so it's a power hog. A power split cable (one that has two 8-pin plugs) is not recommended. br>Now, I checked EVGA's official forums, and the mods confirmed that newer PSUs rated at 800 Watts or higher can use two 8 Pin power cables instead of three. After reading reviews where people complained about high temperatures, excessive fans, and frame rate issues, I decided to run three separate cables into my PSU. I've had no issues so far. br>I'm using a Corsair water cooled system in a large case that runs very quietly, and I've yet to hear the 3090's fans spin up while playing any games. If your power supply is older and/or rated less than 800 watts, you should seriously consider replacing it. br>br>What Frame Rates Should You Expect?br>Unless you have a top-tier Intel or AMD CPU, your frames will not match those on Tech Review sites. My frame rate increases are in comparison to my current hardware, especially the CPU. It's evident by the fact that I'm still using a two-year-old mid-range CPU. An Intel i7-4790K processor that has been overclocked 7700K. So, until I finish building my system around AMD's Ryzen 9 5900X, I won't be able to hit those numbers. Unless you're a content creator, this card is a little overkill in terms of cost to performance gains. I work with editing software that takes advantage of the RTX 3090's architecture. br>I can't see this fitting into a mid-sized case due to its size and power requirements, particularly if overclocking is a goal. It's possible that cooling will be an issue. When paired with mid-range components, a card like this is severely hampered. That is something I can see with my current build, which is why I am building a new rig around it. br>As a result, I'd be hesitant to recommend the 3090 solely for gaming, especially since the RTX 3080 is likely the most cost-effective and energy-efficient option. In comparison, the net gains are insignificant.

It was already dead when I got there. It didn't work after I tried everything. (I work in IT and have tried it all. ).

Beastly! However, make certain that your power supply is in good working order
5/5

It's a huge waste of money to upgrade from my 1080ti, but it's incredible. It's incredible to be able to run native 4K at 120hz. br>br>For this card, it is recommended that you check your Power Supply Unit and PSU cables. They recommend running the three 8 pin PSU cables to your power supply individually, rather than using the dual 8 pin splitter, for those who don't know. The card will be able to draw power from three 8-pin ports on the PSU as a result of this. If you don't, you'll be limiting the amount of power sent to the card, lowering its performance.

After a month of use, this card blew up and caught fire
3/5

I understand that we're in the midst of a computer component shortage, including every new mainstream GPU, but I strongly advise you to avoid the 3090. My problems began as soon as I finished my new build in games like Halo MCC and Grand Theft Auto V. br>br>When I first installed Halo MCC, the video output card would crash almost immediately, leaving me with a black screen despite the fact that the rest of the computer was turned on. I didn't think much of it, other than the possibility that it was a software/driver issue, so I avoided Halo. When I first started playing GTA V, the same black screen crash would occur on a regular basis, with the card losing power and dying while everything else remained on. This led me to believe it was a card hardware issue, as it occurred for the better part of three days. It took 4 weeks until it caught fire near the power connector on the PCB (as seen in the photo) last week. Fortunately, the rest of my components were unaffected, but as you can imagine, I've lost faith in all EVGA GPUs this generation. EVGA has been helpful throughout the process, and they are sending me an RMA card, which I will most likely return once I get my hands on another 3090 card. I strongly advise you to avoid EVGA 30 series cards until they can figure out what's wrong with them. Even though many people on their forums and Subreddit are reporting similar issues (loud audible pop, followed by smoking up and then red LED lights), EVGA has yet to acknowledge this as a problem at the time of writing this.

It does not include any free games (such as Watch Dogs or Call of Duty)
4/5

It's an amazing card! However, there isn't a game that is available for free. (Perhaps it will be added later. )br>Purchased on October 23, 2020. When I contacted EVGA about the promotion, they informed me that retailers (Amazon) are responsible for providing the free game redeem code. Then I called Amazon's customer service, who confirmed that there are no watchdogs/GFNow/COD promotions running right now (until October 30, 2020).
