Not by a long shot. It's made of aluminum with a microscopic copper coating.
Yes and no. Assume this is NOT 12 AWG wire, but rather the much smaller unspecified 12 GA, which is roughly equivalent to 15AWG, because they go out of their way to avoid details. The cost of real copper wire in true AWG size is significantly higher.

Selected User Reviews For Pyle 50ft 12 Gauge Speaker Wire - Copper Cable in Spool for Connecting Audio Stereo to Amplifier, Surround Sound System, TV Home Theater and Car Stereo - PSC1250
It doesn't even have a coppery hue to it. I'm not even going to use it to wire the speakers for my shop radio. Between the county of origin and the Pyle reputation for quality, I should have known better, but it was late, and I pressed the button without reading the reviews.
Even the smaller 14ga speaker wire was priced absurdly high. I'm not one of those people who "needs" the higher-end, sometimes absurdly priced brands that are currently available. My runs are short, about 8 feet to each main speaker and 4 feet to the center channel speaker, so this wire was more than adequate for all of them, with plenty of extra if needed. Aside from thickness, I haven't noticed any difference between this 12ga wire and the old 10ga and 8ga wire I used to use in the past. This wire performs admirably, and you gain some extra cash to spend on other items. I'm not sure if this wire is suitable for in-wall installations, but that wasn't a consideration in my purchase. I was just looking for some good 12 gauge speaker wire at a reasonable price, and here it is. Amazon is to be thanked.
It appeared to be aluminum in the middle of the manufacturer's cut cross section at first glance, but I believe that's just to prevent fraying when cutting. I snipped off a few centimeters and discovered what appeared to be copper strands woven together. This is a copper wire, unless they coated every strand of aluminum with copper, and it seems to produce a richer sound than the 16 gauge wire I previously had running to my front speakers in my 7. So far, I haven't noticed any issues with the wire, especially when using ocelot banana plugs. YMMV.
This wire was used to connect a pair of outside speakers. Even though the installation was outside, it was still protected by a roof. Corrosion became an issue after a few years because the wire was not copper. The wire in the picture had basically turned to aluminum oxide dust at this point, so I had to replace it all with real copper wire.
While the majority of the wire is excellent, the cable beneath the insulation had some flaws. Fortunately, I only needed short runs, so I simply cut it out, and the rest is fine; just make sure to inspect your wire, as this is unlikely to be a common occurrence. It is, however, a good value for the money.
DTS: The wire is marked on one side to help keep the polarities straight, and it's limber enough to make routing easier, which is a plus with heavy12 gauge wire (the lower the gauge, the thicker the wire). Also, I like the idea of using only copper wire - that's a great idea. Some brands use aluminum wire, which I don't think is a good idea. br>If I need more in the future, I won't hesitate to buy this wire.
Aluminum conducts 60% as well as copper does, so spend a few dollars more and let go of the additional fire hazard. Get 99. Copper that is 9% oxygen-free! I immediately threw out the product and lost $15.
Buy it! Since high school in the 1970s, I've considered myself an "audiophile. " When it comes to RCA interconnect cables, there are a few different types to choose from. I believe it is critical to invest a little more money in high-quality cables. When it comes to speaker wire, there are a few things to keep in mind. the majority of high- The value of finished goods is greatly exaggerated! This speaker cable is fantastic! It's adaptable, simple to terminate, and my eMotiva amp puts out 600 watts per channel. This stuff works great, so don't hesitate to buy it.
