For some reason, Amazon keeps screwing up our listings. We usually have the 3/8" in red and black, as well as the 5/16" in red and black, but Amazon has been messing with the listings for the past week or so. If you're one of those people who has ten wires stuffed under one screw to power your car's accessories, consider running one heavy-duty cable to one of these bus bars, and you'll have a nice neat place to get your 12 volt battery power from. This is for the positive side, also known as the hot side, and it is isolated from its mounting. This product has a cover, which makes it less likely that you will accidentally touch a terminal and short it out or ground it. This will be useful for running some high-speed applications. Draw accessories, but not like a starter motor for a car or something. Just keep in mind that this is only for the positive (or negative) side of the equation, and you'll need another for the negative.
I was thinking about adding some accessory lights to my car when I realized I needed help. It was a mess because I already had four or five accessories connected to my battery's positive terminal. This distribution block serves as a nice, tidy point of attachment for all that power, and it really helped to clean up my situation. So far, it's been holding up admirably, and everything appears to be securely fastened. The studs in their plastic base fixture did not strip out of their installation. My only concern is how well the nylon cover nuts will stay in place if they are exposed to constant vibration, such as on a washboard road. So far, I've been happy with my purchase.
In the engine bay of my race car, it was used as a power distribution block. My car's battery is stowed away in the trunk. This was used to power cooling fans, the starter motor, and other engine bay accessories. It's convenient because it has both large 10mm studs for large wires and smaller phillips screws for power wires and terminals. It also comes with a nice cover made of plastic acorn nuts. Overall, a nice piece that was exactly what I needed for my project; I would buy it again without hesitation.
However, some of them come with different sized threaded studs, so make sure you get the right size. Ours was used to make a neater 12 Volt tie in point on an '86 Chevy 1 ton military truck that has been repurposed as a Fire Department Grass/Brush truck. I needed an extra 12V power supply point for lights, a pump starter, and a siren, among other things. It works well and is durable. The cover is a little flimsy, but so far it hasn't failed us.
This is a fantastic product, and I usually purchase hubs from Blue Sea Systems because I appreciate how large and well-built they are. I was forced to look elsewhere because their current pandemic pricing of $60 for a bus bar forced me to, and boy am I glad I did. It's the same exact quality and beefiness as the BSS, but at a fraction of the cost, and it even comes with a cover!.
Power poles, which are popular among ham operators, are much more expensive and less durable. Restoration requires more effort, but once completed, you'll have a power distribution system that's nearly impossible to overload.
I usually only write reviews if a product stands out in some way, either positively or negatively, so I'm glad I'm starting this one with a five-star rating. I didn't expect much for $20, but this is a high-quality item, far superior to even name-brand car audio distribution blocks. I won't have to worry about it not being mirror-polished or weighing 40 pounds. I'll be purchasing more in the near future.
There were far too many connections on the battery terminal, but this is an excellent fit and function. I have three in total: one for each inner fender and one for the Blazer's rear.
