camera is typically powered through the reverse light (which is usually fed from an RCA feed) and is connected to the head unit via an auxiliary wire- If your Tacoma isn't connected to the head unit, you may need an interface adapter.
In addition to the USB charging/media input cable, there are two short USB cables on the back of the radio. One is for Apple Car Play/Android Auto and one is for USB charging/media If you want to get into the driver/passenger compartment, you will need to extend them. Depending on the vehicle, you can decide where and how to route them. My phone received an extra charging cable when I used Apple Car Play/Android Auto. However, you will need an extended cable for the USB/Media input when using Apple Car Play/Android Auto. The design of the radio is poor despite its other good attributes. The large screen, which makes it easy to see and touch the icons while driving, is also a plus.

if your ground does not allow a screen to be displayed when you turn it on, you're not doing it right. *If you need to use Android auto or car play, and you have an older car, just ground the "park" wire and it will work. I used the factory harness ground and it blinked when I turned it up, so I made my own ground to the body of my Tahoe.
It was only the ability to play music via CarPlay that surprised me. Despite its high quality, the sound is very clear. My Kenwood unit was replaced by the Boss Elite unit, and I am almost blown away by the quality of its sound. It was easy to install. From there, just make sure you get an interface so it can be plugged in. Although the screen is bright, I can cope with it.
Obviously, it's not kenwood, alpine or anything similar, although it's still pretty awesome. It is actually quite impressive since I haven't had any problems buying $1k head units in the past. Given that this is such a massive touchscreen, this is quite decent! The graphics are decent for a unit designed for the automotive industry. The speaker system is not a 4K TV, and I haven't found any company that stands up to the claim for an audio system that uses 12 volts. The touch screen on this phone is responsive and smooth, just as it would be on any modern phone. My truck starts in about 12 seconds, and I am sure that I don't even notice the time to get settled in after starting it. It's easy to navigate through the menus. There is a complaint (and I ordered a replacement that has not arrived yet) that the system is too loud when the power is turned on. As you turn the knob to quiet it, you see that the volume is already set to 0. The volume stays loud, but if you rotate the knob forward the volume suddenly goes down! When someone picks up the phone, the volume goes to zero and you have to turn up quickly in order to be able to hear the other party. For phone calls, it does the opposite. It rings at a normal volume and then it goes to zero when the call begins. As a result, you'll need to pay attention to the timer so you'll know when to turn the volume up. Even after these initial adjustments, if the car stays running, it will continue to work like normal until you power it Afterwards, the same thing happens again. It would be nice if the replacement didn't behave like this. Though it is annoying, it would still be an excellent unit assuming it is not an isolated incident. Whenever you want to play a game, you use The same applies to me, since I'm running Apple.
My new Forest River Class C RV came with a single DIN Sony system that I replaced with this system. Having no Navigation and tiny buttons on the "stock" unit (installed in a Ford E450 Cutaway at the RV manufacturer) made it difficult to drive while towing a 32' vehicle down the road. With its large touch screen and the ease of switching between features, the Boss system is very user-friendly. Among the various features that Apple CarPlay offers are Navigation, SiriusXM, Spotify, and many others. Using a USB extension for the dash, I am able to plug in my phone and music USBs at the same time. The sound quality is very good for a system of this price range. This is a highly recommended product.
Would have liked it if I could access maps without plugging my phone into it backup camera wires were too short to assemble it for almost $400 would have liked something to protect the screen if I'm not in the car otherwise it gets scratched otherwise it's a.
I found this to be a nice addition to my Dodge Ram 2nd Gen. When using Apple CarPlay, the radio tuner function does not get locked out.
That radio station is Despite being longer than a basic 4 door truck, the back up camera cable does not reach the radio. It is a short cable, about three feet in length. That means the back up camera was a waste of money. Buying a back up camera if you drive a truck is not a wise decision.
