Questions & Answers

Is the door protruding or folding into the opening when it is opened?

It tucks itself into the gap.

Is it possible to hang it from the ceiling?

It's possible, but I wouldn't do it. Water would have an easier time getting in.

Is it better to mount the stereo first, then screw the cover onto the boat's dash?

Place the metal sleeve that came with the stereo inside, bend the sleeve's tabs to keep it in place, and then mount it. Because there was a lot of open space behind the stereo in my boat, I slid in my stereo and connected from the back. Pull the wires through if you don't already have them, then connect the stereo and slide it in. It will secure itself in place.

Is there anything on the back that can be screwed in?

I don't believe there was, but it is plastic and could be drilled through.

Installation necessitates a large cutout
4/5

The quality and appearance of this cover are excellent, and I appreciate that it does not require additional head space to open because it simply slides up like a roll-up. top desk. This was purchased for use on a pontoon boat, and I assumed it would fit into the existing radio cutout. That was not the case at all. To fit into the console, you'll need a much larger cutout, so keep that in mind if you don't have any extra real estate. to slash into real estate Because my radio is partially hidden behind the steering wheel, I couldn't use a flip-up speaker. remove the lid. For my application, this cover is ideal. I hope this has been of assistance.

I bought this radio shield to replace the old and broken one in my boat, and it has done an excellent job of protecting the radio inside for the past two months
4/5

This shield performs flawlessly in general. It's been on hundreds of miles of dusty dirt roads, potholes, and washboards, and it's done an excellent job of protecting the radio inside. The radio has been perfect through days and days of nonstop rain. br>br>The only reason it does not receive five stars is because of the fit. It claims to be a single DIN, which is largely accurate. MOSTLY. To accommodate the small springs on the sides that assist in closing and opening the front door, I had to cut my dash out about 1/2" wider than standard. (My original radio was mounted directly through an aluminum dash panel. ) I also had to reduce the height of the door by about 3/8" to allow it to roll into the opening. After that, the included bezel does an excellent job of hiding everything. Just keep in mind that if you don't have enough height or width, you won't be able to use it.

Plastic bends and does not even keep the stereo in place due to its poor quality
3/5

My stereo system kept flying out despite being properly secured due to the flimsy, low-quality plastic that bends and changes shape, especially on a hot summer day. After riding the boat on waves, the top tinted part that makes it water resistant flew out, indicating that the water resistance was long. Despite the fact that it was inexpensive, I did not believe it was worth the $10-$20 I paid for it. This purchase was not money well-spent, as it cost $20 on Amazon. For me, this was a wasted result.

Keep in mind the required cutout size
4/5

The opening should be cut out using a template. It took a long time and a lot of trial and error to get the old radio opening in the wood dash to the correct size; this one is taller than the old style. Take care.

It has a nice appearance and it keeps the radio from getting wet
5/5

In the dash, it looks great. Installing it was a breeze. Not sure if it is 100% waterproof, but it keeps the radio dry enough for me to not be concern. I'm confident we'll have no problems using a marine radio.

Without more cutting, it's possible that it won't fit
3/5

This didn't fit into the space I already had. The cover would not go up because the side springs were raked out. I needed to widen the hole before cutting a bevel into the fiberglass. The curved cover arcs upward because of the plywood across the top; it's not as easy to install as they claim, but it works now that it's done.

It didn't turn out the way I expected
5/5

Although it appears to be attractive, it does not prevent water from entering the house.

This is utter nonsense
3/5

It's not even close to being waterproof. This is utter nonsense. It's not even close to being waterproof. It served as a cover for the stereo on my boat. Between the flip cover and the housing, there are large gaps on both sides. When it rained, a pool of water formed inside the cover. My stereo is mounted on the dash, which is under the t-top. top. If you're trying to keep your electronics dry and there's even the slightest chance of them getting wet, don't buy one of these.
