Questions & Answers

What is the maximum volume?

The majority of people stop at number ten. This one is a ten out of ten.

Is this stereo equipped with a remote control?

There isn't one included.

Is it necessary to use the Pioneer app in order to operate the stereo?

Yes and no are both correct. Android Auto is my preferred method of transportation. That's fantastic. The app is required to operate the pioneer's settings.

Is it possible to listen to the radio while not using your phone?

Yes, but I believe that all of the radio station favorites and other features are controlled through the app, so tuning would be difficult without it.

Welcome to the year 1955
3/5

The ability to program your own station presets has been a standard feature in every car radio since at least 1955. With this radio, not so much. Before I bought the radio, I read a review that stated this, and I assumed the reviewer was completely wrong. That was not the case. As of the time of this review, you are unable to SET YOUR OWN PRESETS. I'm serious. Instead, you're left with two less-than-ideal options. br>br>First, choose a "favorite" radio station. This favorite, on the other hand, cannot be accessed quickly without a few phone screen clicks. Worse yet, this favorite isn't saved with the station number or name in bold. instead. What is displayed is the song that was playing when you selected it as a favorite. The station number is written in small letters off to the side, making it difficult to read while driving. Oh, and if you aren't using your phone on the current trip in the car (or if the app doesn't connect, which happens far too often), there is NO WAY to select these favorites with just the radio. br>br>Second option) You can have the app choose presets for you automatically. It accomplishes this by automatically choosing the six most powerful stations for you. You're not a fan of the really loud country or Christian music stations? You've run out of options - because he's your pre-programmed pal! You can then use your phone to cycle through these presets or listen to them on the radio without using your phone. However - It's a completely useless option for me because only two of the auto-selected stations are ones I listen to. Furthermore, it does not appear that there is a way to have it select DIFFERENT stations for the other two bands of presets. So I'm not sure what Pioneer was thinking in this situation. I assumed I was missing something and spent hours scouring the internet for answers, but no. That's the situation we're in. It's absurd. br>br>Without presets, you'll have to use seek to move from one station to the next. This is a real pain in the neck. br>br>I despise the radio for this reason. The volume control is also an up/down button, which is inconvenient. This would be acceptable if you could hold either button and have it continue in the desired direction, but you must continue to push. This is exacerbated by the lack of a mute button. So, let's say you're jamming out to a song at full volume and then need to quickly turn it down - There are two choices available to you: Alternatively, turn off the radio by pressing the down button 1872 times. In addition - br>br> It only auto connects to the app when I get in the car about 75% of the time. 25% of the time it won t connect despite the phone being connected to BT. This does not appear to be a phone issue, as I have many other BT devices that do not have this problem. br>br>I would love this radio if Pioneer released a new version of the app that allows me to create my own presets, has a mute button, and connects more reliably. It appears to be fantastic.

The Corvette C5 is paired with a Samsung Galaxy S9
5/5

My phone (Galaxy S9) has always served as a GPS and music player for me. I've bought a variety of mounts but have never been satisfied with them. Until I came across this headphone with an integrated mount. It's well-made and secures the phone. As a headunit screen, no double din or flip out screen can match the responsiveness of a smart phone's touch screen and speed. Pioneer, keep it up.

Great device with Android Auto App on your phone
5/5

Use the Android Auto App on your phone (your phone will serve as the screen) if you're using an Android. To change sound and color settings, you'll need to download the Pioneer app. I purchased this because I was tired of my Android Auto head unit disconnecting from my phone at random intervals. This works great with both OEM and aftermarket Android Auto Head Units because the phone acts as the Android Auto screen, so there's no need to disconnect!.

It's not my cup of tea, to be honest
3/5

This sounded interesting in theory, but it's not for me. The mount held the phone well for the first month or two, but it now falls out every time I use it, so I don't use it anymore. Despite updating the firmware on the head unit and ensuring that the mobile app is up to date, I am unable to program radio station presets as they should be. The song information is not displayed correctly when using the app to play Spotify. The fact that there is no way to quickly pause or mute (ex: on a phone) is the thing that irritates me the most. You'd want to pause or mute as you approach the drive-through window). Instead, you can either pull your phone up and hit pause (as I previously stated, I no longer use the mount) or press the volume down button 20 times or so until the volume is low. The volume does not go up or down if you keep pressing the button. You have to press the button every time, whereas I prefer a knob that allows you to quickly lower or raise the volume or turn off the sound by pressing the knob. I'd also like my head unit to be able to tell the time, even though I know I'm supposed to use my phone and that this is all about using your phone. It just isn't my cup of tea, I guess. This unit may suit many people, but I believe that a basic unit should include some of these features. br>br>It doesn't happen very often, but every now and then the unit refuses to communicate with the phone, and I've had to "forget" the device and set it up as if it were the first time. br>br>I'm not sure what the messaging button is for. It has no effect whatsoever. Furthermore, the voice commands aren't worth tinkering with.

Enough is enough
3/5

I think it's a good value for the money; the sound is good, and the features are good, but they're not quite intuitive, so it takes a little poking around (if you don't like reading manuals) to figure out how to use them. I'm not giving it five stars because the connectivity isn't as good as I'd like it to be, and I haven't figured out how to connect to my phone automatically. It claims to do so, and I have the option turned on, but it does not; you must press "allow" each time, as well as "ok" on the mandatory warning that you should not look at your phone while driving. br>br>I've seen a lot of people complaining about the lack of a mute button, and I'm here to tell you that it IS possible. br>br>Bottom line, if all you need is bluetooth connectivity and are on a budget, it's a decent choice. br>br>This option can be changed to Attenuate if you prefer, but the unit does have the choice. br>br>.

Wow, your car is now online, and this device is incredible
5/5

The Pioneer Smart Sync app must be installed on your phone. Use the app to pair your phone. You can now listen to any music you want on the internet. What is sent to each speaker is completely under your control. Exp. You can disable the bass signal for the smaller dash speakers. The sound quality and volume that the speakers can handle has greatly improved. There is a radio function built into the device. Calling functions are complete. You can order a plug-in accessory that allows you to add backup warning sensors to warn you if you're about to collide with something behind you. It takes some time to recall what each button symbol represents and what it does. It's not difficult; some functions are hidden behind a few menus, but that's to be expected with anything new. You'll find it if you just look around.
