Questions & Answers

tr5000 is a brand new product that I recently purchased. 1d. What are the best two 15" subwoofers I could use with this beast of a machine?

Hello Robert,br> br> We do have some great 15-inch speakers, such as the AC15D, but our best speaker is the BBD12. Thank you very much.

Is it in need of a lot of power? Is it capable of pushing two 12 kickers at the same time?

Yes, your power supply must be extremely powerful; I would recommend purchasing a power cap! Right now, I'm using this amp to drive two 15 kicker comps, and it's a beast!

Is it possible to drive two 2000 watt vm 15's with this setup?

It should be fine; I'm running four VM 12s and there's still plenty of juice left. I'm using 0ga wire because I've noticed that without good power and ground, it gets hot.

Would the tr4000 be a good option? For my two Memphis 10" 400rms 800peak single coil 4 ohms, is 1d amp enough or too much?

The TR4000 greets you. You should be able to use 1D with your setup. Thank you very much.

Planet Audio is a no-buy zone
3/5

Only a tenth of the claims made by Amp are fulfilled! If you're reading this, you're probably looking for a planet audio product, and after reading this, you'll never want to. I was seduced by the promise of high watt output at a low cost. The amazon page claims that the 1500 watt torque series amp puts out 1125 watts RMS @ 2 ohm, so I bought it. For $70, doesn't it seem like a good deal? The only issue is that at 2 ohms, this amp only puts out about 150 watts RMS. That's only a tenth of the claim's value! Every product that Planet Audio produces is falsely advertised. If you look in their amp manuals and do basic math you will see that all their RMS wattage claims are 100% impossible based on the fuse/fuses they have in their amps% The amount of current required to produce the advertised wattage would not be able to pass through the power and ground wires because they are too small if their amps produced the advertised power. Even if you used the proper gauge wires to handle the advertised watts, the amp's end fuse/fuses would blow before it even got halfway to what they claim their amplifiers can produce. That said, don't buy Boss Audio because their business model is identical to Planet Audio's. Purchase an amplifier from a company that does not deceive customers by selling them mislabeled products. Look for videos of a company's amplifier being put through its paces on a Dyno to see if the company is trustworthy; remember, you get what you pay for, and sometimes paying a little more saves you not only time and frustration, but also money. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> I pulled this amp from the back of the closet and installed it in my wife's car. I used an oscilloscope until the signal was clipped, then turned down the gain until I had a clean sine wave, then measured the voltage with a multimeter and crunched the numbers. This amplifier produces a clean unclipped signal of 275 watts RMS. I got a little more than I expected, but not nearly as much as I expected.

It's possible to be fooled by appearances
3/5

This amp was purchased to replace my three-year-old PPI Black Ice 5kw amplifier, which had died. The build quality of the Planet Audio amplifier appears to be quite good. Despite mixed reviews, I decided to give it a try. Because the amp stands proudly in my trunk, I built a shelf for it. Actually, I should have connected it before constructing the shelf. The posh L is the best I can get. To work, the backlighting and the "protect" indicator must both be turned on. Amazon is attempting to locate a replacement for me, but the situation is not looking promising. I might have just asked for my money back if I hadn't already committed to a mounting position. I'm hoping this isn't a common occurrence, but we'll have to wait and see.

If you're on the fence about buying it, take the plunge
5/5

You won't be sorry. It's a well-built amp that's loud and powerful. I have two 12 inch Skar SDR-IIs on the go. D2 Subs with a total power output of 1200 watts RMS and a 1 ohm impedance It is an understatement to say that it is loud. This amp has a lot of power, and with the right subs, it can be pretty damn loud (piss off your neighbors loud) while still providing good sound quality. Without a doubt, I would recommend it and purchase it again. If you're debating whether or not to purchase this amplifier, go ahead and do so. You will not be sorry.

Stunning, to say the least
5/5

I'm giving this a five-star rating because it's incredibly powerful and simple to set up. The only issue I've had is hooking up two 1800-watt subwoofers for a total of 3600 watts, which is entirely my fault. We didn't make the proper adjustments, so they blew out. But the good news is that I was able to contact tech support, who advised me to purchase two DB 12 subwoofers, each with a power rating of 2500 watts, so they could handle the amp's power. Right now, I'm using only 1400 watts of power from my old speakers, and I've turned the amp's turn finder down to just above the minimum. That amp is still hitting the speakers. I'm going to get some 3000 watt subwoofers so I can get the best performance possible because right now, if you don't come all the way right, you're going to mess something up because this amp is insanely powerful.

For the price, this is a great amp! So far, I've been running 4 12" dvc subs with a 2 ohm load at 4 ohm on the subs, and they've never clipped or gotten hot! There's plenty of power!

It has a lot of power and clarity

Ok. This final was installed, and it has a great bass response and sound. My husband, on the other hand, would say, To make any system sound great, you'll need a great radio. This amp, in combination with my Bose surround sound system and my radio, sounds fantastic. But he has a 900 or 1000 watt amp, I'm not sure which, and he's rocking so many Punches, and it's all thanks to his Pioneer radio. The load is on. So, if you want any amp to sound good, you'll need a radio with highs and lows, as well as the ability to adjust the power to the amp and the power that goes to the amp. However, this amplifier works well with my radio. It's also great for my Yukon.

Excellent price/quality ratio! This amplifier was originally on the market for nearly $300,000
5/5

It now costs around 120 dollars. This amp is extremely expensive in terms of wattage and quality. I cranked it up to two tens, one from Planet Audio and the other from Sony Xplod. I'm afraid of blowing the speakers, so I haven't turned up the amp even half way. Yes, it has a great deal of strength. I'm not a sound engineer, but I'm a happy camper when you connect an amp and get crisp, clean sound. There are plenty of settings to choose from, and I believe you'll get the sound you want. Make sure you pair this amp with a good radio/deck to get a good overall sound to complement the great bass: ) Now, I don't think this amp puts out 4000 watts, but I'm sure it puts out at least 1500, which in my opinion is a great deal for a hundred dollars. 120 x 10 = 1200, so 120 total fuze rating 40/40/40 x 10 = 1200, which is roughly what I'm thinking in terms of real raw power. Oh, and this thing is a powerhouse, because my headlights dim when I listen to rap music, lol! So I'm going to need one of those things to fix that problem.

This amplifier is something I would never buy
3/5

My speakers are 2300 watts RMS and the amp is supposed to do 2500 watts RMS and the amp couldn't handle it hence the claimed 5000 watts it couldn't do. I wouldn't buy this amp and the technical support really didn't help but the tradional support was great.
