DJI Mavic Mini Combo - Drone FlyCam Quadcopter UAV with 2.7K Camera 3-Axis Gimbal GPS 30min Flight Time, less than 0.55lbs, Gray

In addition to everything this drone offers, its price point is fair. 1. It has a reliable, portable, long flight time (*23 minutes), and 2. It has an integrated GPS. A 7k and a 6k A 1080 video, a 11. 2 mile range (FCC), and under 250 grams - that's pretty unbelievable! It is hard to go wrong with this new DJI Mavic Mini if you are looking for your first quadcopter, or just a highly portable drone. With each flight I have of the Mavic Mini, I will try to update this review and make it more personalized. Please read on for some of my first impressions and essential information for anyone new to the hobby or planning to purchase this drone. Due to the length, I divided this up into sections for you to focus on the items you are interested in. -CONS ----------------------------- In my opinion, this 4 star rating is because of the following items/issues

SOFTWARE CONS (fixable with updates)
- The DJI Fly app is buggy and needs to be fixed. Battery is depleted when using this application while in the air
- A DJI GEO fencing system that is outdated
- It is not possible to disable or silence the RTH beeping - There is no landing pad to be found by RTH - Local Data mode was not implemented in “DJI Fly” app to prevent data collection by DJI/China.
•Hardware support was not implemented. Sensors for the detection of collisions are not available* This method relies on WiFi rather than Ocusync*- I have not been able to support the Smart Controller - The micro usb port is used instead of the This is C*BR>. In addition to temperature and wind speed, flight speed, video recording, altitude, and GPS signal, the flight time will depend on many other factors. Despite this being slightly less than advertised, it is still an impressive speed for a drone of this size and price. -FLIGHT SPEED ------------------------------- The Mavic Mini can fly in three different modes depending on the pilot's preference. You can choose from three modes default (P), sport (S), or cinematic Below you will find information on how fast the drone travels in meters per second (m/s) when in different flight modes. If you fly in these areas without permission, DJI will force you to land. In order to use the app you must connect your phone/device to the controller ahead of your first flight. The controller will work in tandem with this app. In order to make best use of this program, I recommend using an Apple iPhone, however Android phones can also be used. In order to take your first flight, you must register and update your drone using the DJI app for the first time. Additionally, it's possible to use the drone without connecting a phone by using only the controller that comes with the drone (not recommended). If you choose to do this, you will not be able to see the camera, the drone stats, or to edit the The FAA (US) app "B4UFLY" is also HIGHLY recommended so that you can double check that the air space you plan to fly into is not subject to restrictions that DJI may While the drone weighs 148/149 grams (including SD card) and does not require registration in the United States, be warned that if you add ANYTHING to this drone (maybe even a sticker) you run the risk of breaking the law if it becomes 250 grams. It is important to understand that if you use propeller guards you will be way over the Furthermore, I want to point out that DJI makes another battery for the Mavic Mini that weighs 50 grams less for Japan's flight restrictions. This battery has an 18-minute flight time (vs 30), which I believe would be the ideal choice if you need to cut weight. In order to use this feature, it's important you take off straight up and land a few feet off the ground so the drone can capture the location of the return home landing. As soon as the drone is disconnected from the controller/phone or the button is pressed, its return to home (RTH) procedure will be initiated Before you fly away, you also need to make sure the RTH Altitude is set above the highest building in the area. As the drone enters its RTH, it will remain at its current altitude if it is already above your settings. As soon as the plane descends below the setting, it will gain the altitude it needs for a safe landing. In the following seconds, it will turn in your direction and fly straight back to its A descent of altitude will follow until the plane lands. It's extremely important that you set the minimum RTH altitude on this drone to avoid crashing it due to the absence of collision avoidance sensors. The DJI Mini battery could last up to 200 cycles under normal conditions. After 200 cycles, it is not recommended to continue using the product. Charge a battery back up to 40%--then dis/charge it again When it is not going to be used for more than 10 days, it will save about 60% of the battery life. *Drone Battery Upgrades There are two battery types available for the controller [30] 2400 mAh (90 min charging time) and [18] 1100 mAh (50 min charging time). In severe weather conditions, strong wind, snow, rain, smog, hail, and lightning, you should not use the drone. The battery is a 2600 mAh cell (120 minute recharge time). In order to be safe, it is recommended you only operate the drone in temperatures that range from 32° to 104°F. The reason for this is primarily due to battery issues that can occur when the temperature is excessive. If you are planning to take this drone off with a wind speed exceeding 18 mph, you should land or not take off. Although occasional gusts of wind are likely to occur above this point, flying with care should not pose a problem. You should keep in mind that wind speed increases However, even though a drone is lightweight and may not cause as much damage/injury as a 250+ gram drone due to its small size, there are still risks and injuries that may arise due to its use. Additionally, it does not include any of the collision avoidance sensors that DJI is so well known for. If you do not pay attention or are inexperienced, the risk of a collision is greater. You should attach propeller guards indoors if you plan to fly the drone indoors so you do not damage the drone or your surroundings. There is a big topic concerning privacy right now, and with DJI based in China, it comes across as disturbing. If you are purchasing this drone, you should be aware that DJI and China will be scanning your activities! Using the app, you are giving Chinaware access to your personal information. After being collected, the data is held on a server in China where no one knows what it is doing. It's just a matter of making sure you don't give this app too much access. There are also two other services we are able to use on all DJI drones, called "DRONE TO PHONE" and "AEROSCOPE". All DJI drones yell out your information so that anyone with the ability to read it can pick it up The following section contains more information on both apps. In the near future, DJI will release its "DRONE TO PHONE" app, which will allow anyone within 1 mile to control a DJI drone. You are allowed to see your information over a distance of 5 miles including, but not limited to, the current drones and how they work The location of the controller, the status of the flight, serial numbers on the devices, and the drone's altitude can all be seen. While you fly your DJI drone, you can view your smart phone in real time. According to my perspective, this exposes you to the risk of random people knowing all about your drone in the air along with the location from which you are controlling it. They may decide to use this information for whatever purpose they choose. There are not many good reasons to do that, though. On top of this, they already market/sell a larger version of this called "AEROSCOPE" that allows the same information to be viewed up to 30 miles away. Having it in private hands is a lot better, as it is not in the public domain. Versions such as this can be pricey and are more for safety at airports and no fly zones. of that said, let me end this section by pointing out that DJI is one of the most widely liked drone companies in the world, but I also wanted to give a warning to all of you. There is one set of US/FAA Regulations that apply to any aircraft operated by an amateur as a hobby

- Do not fly more than for recreational purposes - Keep the pilot within visual sight of the aircraft's wing* - Don't fly at a height of 400 feet above the ground or above a structure - Don't fly in an area that's restricted (B4UFLY) - Always stay in the air if you are over a crowd or event. Flying near a response is never a good idea -- Always keep a safe distance from manned aircraft - If the drone weighs 250 grams or more, you must register it. That last point is extremely important because of how the drone will be The weight of the Mavic Mini will exceed 149 g if you add anything to it (including propeller guards) and that will break the drone take-off weight limit.

With my $40 drone that I lost in a tree, all that would have been a teeth-grinding experience. A nightmare that keeps churning. In the USA, the Mavic Mini violates FAA registration requirements by 1 gram, so if you were to fly it down the street you wouldn't get FAA approval. You can't get any simpler than that. Despite its reliability, I was never nervous at any given moment. The notification "home location set" gave me peace of mind. A warning message appeared along with "caution, high winds, land as soon as possible", shortly before the next notice, "connection lost. Returning home". In both cases, the recorded voice within the app presented the information calmly. After a few minutes, I watched my drone fly itself back to my home after crossing over trees. Even though it is a "prosumer" video, the footage is still very clear and impressively high (although it is only The 7K figure). Its gimbal on its own almost justifies the price. But what sets it apart from other models is its patent-pending self-stabilization system. A drone's pilot is its key feature. The experience of flying is so relaxing and reassuring. To start with, I would have given it 5 stars, but the manuals are small and hard to read. You can still fly a DJI at 70, DJI! The video I watched on YouTube provided all the information I needed. I had downloaded the app to my Mini 4 IPAD, I was able to login with my Apple ID. You'll need to set up an account with DJI through the app, or else you won't be able to use the app. It is necessary to set up your mavic mini through the app before you can use it. I found it very easy to fly the Mavic Mini even at the age of 70. It is EASY when I say it. Due to the fact that my desktop monitor is only 1920 x 1080 p, I set the photos and videos in 1080, so I could edit the video easily and add music. Upon retirement, $499 will be deducted from your checking account. 100 dollars certainly does not represent a bargain, but it is a DJI! Over the last week, it has been in the air more than 30 times, so I've been enjoying it a lot. You can't go wrong with this.
