If you're purchasing this to replace the mounts on your Paul C Buff soft box, keep in mind that it's about an inch smaller. It's not going to be a perfect match. That was something I was aware of prior to purchasing it. Prior to purchasing, I conducted research and discovered one that is an exact match but is not available on Amazon and is only available through a private website for three times the cost of this one. br>br>Anyway, don't worry about it; just buy this product and replace Paul's plastic washers with a slightly larger metal washer to hold the mount in place. It's a cinch to use. Please keep in mind that this item is being shipped from China, so please be patient with the shipping time.
They arrived quickly, but the adapter didn't fit. It would have been helpful if they had mentioned that Paul Buff softboxes come in at least three different sizes, ranging from 135 to 144 mm, and that the mounts are not interchangeable. You'll need to remove the existing one and carefully measure it; it turned out that I needed the 144mm Bowens ring, not the 135mm, and Fotoconic doesn't have one.
It's on backorder and there's no way of knowing when it'll be delivered. I bought it to convert my Rapid box to a bowens mount, and it worked flawlessly. Now I need to convert my second Rapid box, and. I can't seem to get the thing to work. It worked perfectly for what I needed it to do, and I believe it comes from China, which means it won't be in stock for a long time due to tariffs. Nothing else will do because it's the perfect fit. I'm sad, but I'm glad I've found one that works. It's a bummer because I gave it five stars and no one seems to be able to find it.
To convert Alien Bees soft boxes to Bowen's S mount, I use this ring. The good news is that it works, despite the fact that it is a little small in circumference; I added a couple of larger washers when attaching it to the soft box just to make sure it is secure. The metal construction is solid, and the Bowen's mount performs as expected. The value for money is excellent.
If you're a Paul Buff fan looking for a conversion, you've come to the right place. This piece WILL get the job done. It's a little more compact, but it does the job perfectly. I like how the PB modifier has the same durability as a bowen's mount, but with more flexibility. You've come to the right place if you're looking to convert.

I needed a 5-inch Bowens compatible speedring. To adapt a Chimera softbox frame, measure 3 inches in diameter. It's made of study metal but isn't too heavy, which was ideal.
