Questions & Answers

Do you have the option to attach this rig ?

Yes, I agree! You can definitely do that! The other day I was shooting a wedding and my back was hurting. Then I remembered that I could put a monopod or tripod beneath the camera. A feature that is key!

Can this rig be used with a Nikon D5100?

Honestly, I just don't know how large it is, but I'm sure any DSLR will fit in it. If you wish to use a bigger camera, you can do so without any problems. I am using a black magic.

What parts are made of plastic, and what parts are made of ?

They are the support rods, the counterweights Specifically, the matte box is made out of metal as well as the weight. There are no problems with the rest of the rig. I guess you can pretty much call it Plastic also makes up the actual base plate mount that attaches the camera to the rig itself.

During my 40 years of film production, it is the best rig I have ever seen
5/5

In a nutshell, This unit has more features, flexibility, and solid build than all of the rigs I've owned that cost $2,000. This is the kind of product I will be adding four more to our inventory. The ARRI Alexa can be mounted to a DSLR or an SLR. You can't get any more flexible than this. Using this rig on a Steadicam (photos), on a 40' camera boom, tripod and the handle is so sturdy that it can also be used free floating. The shipping cost may seem high to you, but it was delivered to me in three (not counting Sunday) days. The order was placed at 1am on Friday morning, and I received it at 9am on The day after presidents' day was a federal holiday. Honestly, I am going to buy four more cameras so that I will have five cameras total. One in my possession will go to a friend or rental agency, and the rest will be fully loaded with cameras for my In addition to all the ways it can be configured, there is even a low mode for cameras with a handle that can be used to attach either the handle grip that comes with it or just It is hard to recommend this unit more than I do. A camera like this has to be part of your production workflow. Those are the photos of SteadiCam's rig you see on the web. The following are audio recorders photographed Digital Audio Recorder, MSAT815ST Shotgun, and DSLR (stand-in camera in picture). In addition to Powell
IAWFilmWorks, West Coast Productions is also involved.

There are pros and cons to everything
4/5

In the end, it took me nearly two days and a lot of trial-and-error to figure out In order to put this product together, there was some trial-and-error involved. ProAim, the distributor, sent me an email the day after it was delivered thanking me for my purchase and providing me with a URL to download It is estimated that there are between 25 and 30 A tube is also part of this rig, which has 30 parts. Although the instructions are printable, the pictures are very basic and hide a lot of how most parts are attached (I have two parts left over that I don't know what Although the instructions say nothing about joining the tubing, it is possible for some of it to become longer with a bit of elbowing. If FilmCity or ProAim have any interest in showing their buyers how their assembly is made, they should create a YouTube video to demonstrate that in more detail. My first impression of the upper barn door to the matte box was incorrect. I sent an email in three different forms to various addresses I discovered on the ProAim website. Later, I found the barn door sandwiched between two smaller pieces of foam that I thought had just been In the past 24 hours, I have received three responses to my email, so I am impressed with how quick ProAim has been to respond. I was surprised at how sturdy the rig was once I put it together, despite the fact that it is completely plastic. The shoulder pad (plastic, and as hard as a rock) has a 2-inch swiveling mechanism As soon as we put the rig on our shoulders, I was able to get much more stable footage than if we had shot it hand-held. The counterweight is a pound that I found to be the right balance for our camera. Among the drawbacks There is no need for the cage arms to be quite as tall as they are when using a DSLR. The cage arms are twice as high as my Sony A7Siii, because I am using it with that camera. Creating some arms that are about 4 inches shorter would be wonderful if FilmCity could do it for us. It comes apart when the screws are removed from the arms Each arm is tightened by several screws. My original thought was that I would be able to shorten their length that way, but I was unable to do so. It has to be said, though, that the matte box is the biggest disappointment. There's a lot of flimsiness to it. For some reason, a bottom door was not included) you're required to attach with small screws, and they often come loose and need to be re-attached Increasing the tension. Due to the fact that the rig has two landing gears There are hundred The product should have been made as one solid piece (preferably metal) given its high dollar price tag. There is often a problem with the "knicker" (the bag affixed to the matte box that fits over the camera lens) sliding off, which is a real hassle to have to keep on. If one could tighten it to the matte box, it would not slip off so easily. I would have liked a drawstring to keep everything in place. It is difficult to manually extend the zoom lens when I have to use a zoom lens in the box. The most frustrating aspect of the box is using a zoom lens. There is a constant need to adjust the quick release to accommodate it as zooming out will in fact push the camera too far behind, which will then result in the matte box itself appearing in the photo. In order to move the release plate forward or backward, I have to manually push it. *I rarely, if ever, manually zoom in or out when I'm taking pictures, so it's not an issue. In my experience, this matte box would almost make it impossible for me to zoom smoothly. Whatever the case may be, the camera's pretty good for the price. It'll work very well for stabilizing my usually shaking shots when I use it handheld. I also love the way it looks!.

Having in mind that I wanted a solid shoulder rig that was less than $300, I started shopping the market
4/5

The idea I had going into the market was to find a great shoulder rig that would be less than $300, and the one I just found is perfect for that. Although there are some downsides, it's certainly not perfect, and when it comes to camera equipment, you certainly get what you pay for. Despite the short distance, there was no delay in shipping, which arrived in less than a week from India. It was during assembling the rig that I had some minor issues, as some of the metal rods would not easily slide into the plastic brackets, most likely due to issues with the molds. The thing looked very professional once I had it all together, and I was excited to slot in my camera once I was done. Please keep in mind that this rig is quite a bit larger than it appears in the photographs, and if you have a micro four-channel microphone, it will be too big for this rig When a thirds camera such as mine is inside a rig, it will seem tiny. It will also be difficult to get the lens through the matte box without being able to see it in the unzoomed picture. When I picked up the rig or balanced it on a tripod, I noticed that it had an a little "flex" to it, due to the heavy counterweight (great for stabilizing, however), so I would be careful not to be too rough. The counterweight was removed from the tripod when I used it. The best setup at this price point overall is the one from this company. You'll find it to be way more durable and sturdy than the cheap blue plastic rigs you see on Amazon and eBay for $100-$200 It's a nice rig, but I can't afford to buy a nicer one until I can afford a nicer one.
