Selected User Reviews For SMALLRIG Camera Cage only for Sony A6000 A6300 ILCE-6000 ILCE-6300 NEX7 with 1/4" 3/8" Mounting Points and Built-in Cold Shoe - 1661
Easy to build and comes with endless options for building the perfect rig, the cage offers an unmatched amount of flexibility. The pros are There are many 1/8"-thick models available for light weight * Available in 20 mm and 3/8" sizes* Has many other accessories* Fits snugly on the bottom with just one mounting screw, yet allows quick releases to attach* Sharp price* It's a really big problem that the frame wraps around the left side of the lens (grab side) which greatly reduces grip on this camera. It's not necessary to have that framing around the camera, but it leaves your hand with a limited amount of room to hold it. There is a slight wiggle when the camera is mounted, as there is only one bracket, but it is not bad. The cold shoe is practically useless, as anything attached there will impede your ability to manipulate the shutter, mode, or dial. In general, for the price it's a purchase I'm happy with - especially for the price. This is still a great rig, but there are some tweaks that could make it even more versatile and effective.
When I accidentally dropped my Sony a6000 onto the concrete outside due to not tightly securing the tripod to the camera, I was able to save it from destruction at least once. It is a sturdy frame, and I can confirm from personal As it stands, the a6000 isn't a very sturdy camera in the sense of build quality, and I'm certain many of us have heavy lenses for it that might put strain on it. The cold shoe is a nice feature, as are the many holes for mounting other accessories. I don't use mics or other things, but I like In my experience, the camera fit tightly into the frame and my tripod's extension tube did not present any problems for me The bottom of the bracket is a Swiss mounting plate. There is nothing to complain about in the price either. The only thing I have to complain about is I work as a real estate photographer and use speed lights with wireless triggers daily, but the top of the SmallRig cage prevents me from slipping the trigger into the hot shoe and I cannot use the flash trigger, or even the flash itself, on the camera. It's just not possible to clear the area. It is possible to overcome this issue by installing the trigger in the hot shoe backwards, however, it now blocks my view of the screen except when I tilt it, and I find it extremely difficult to tighten and loosen it from the hot shoe. In order for your hot shoe to work 100% properly, you should buy a hot shoe extension, but the exact consequences will depend on how much you use it for flash triggers and whether or not you are willing to spend extra money on an item that lets you use hot shoe accessories without them becoming damaged. Besides the one accessory I mentioned, there are a few others that might not work when installed in the wrong order. Had it not been for problems with the hot shoe, this would have been a five-star review. Despite this, I do not regret buying the item.
I love the fact that it allows me to add two Whether on a gimbal, a Steadicam, or even handheld, there are three accessories to choose from.
There is a bit of play from the camera body, it wiggles a bit since it is mounted only In any case, as soon as you have the camera in place and it is on a stabilizer, you shouldn't need to touch it much. The rig is great for recording with a shotgun mic and external recorder at the same time. It usually looks like this when I use it. Most of the footage was shot in a documentary style. When you have the right accessories for it, a6000 can be extremely versatile.
It's durable and versatile. In my experience, there are not many things to dislike about this product, it is loved by my Sony a6300 and me as well. As a whole, I appreciate how much more professional my camera looks, but I'm disappointed that they didn't include a grip at The way my hands are shaped, I'm able to grasp it easily. It just looks better with the In order to make a custom 3-D printed hand grip, I went to a third party manufacturer. There's an order form for Sony's 6300 hand grip on Google, which you can find. Moreover, I feel that this makes my camera appear much more professional since I feel it makes my camera look more professional. This is the place to start if you're looking to build a rig.
These are the same ones I bought for my Sony a6300, as well as another for my new The idea of buying a light weight camera to reduce its weight and then adding a cage to make it heavier seems a little silly. In any case, these gadgets are a great way to protect the actual camera body, especially since I carry at least two bodies that bump into each other occasionally. I carry both of these cameras in my aircraft to take pictures from the air. Unfortunately the cameras tend to get beaten around a lot more than I would like. The cage keeps them protected. It's a homemade camera, but it's fragile. One other feature that I like is the ability to attach all types of handles, such as those for video shooting, flash units, etc. Because the cage is designed with holes for this Well-designed and well-made, this product has a nice look and feels good in your hand. There is a lot I like about it.
How would you like to protect your camera without adding bulk or weight to it, but without adding any significant weight? It is a great idea! I own a still photography business and was looking at L brackets when I came across this. Not only does it provide some protection, but it has threads in most holes that fit 1/4 X 20 threads (the same hole as the tripod mount for In order to shoot from either the bottom or the side, I simply popped my tripod plate on both the bottom and the side of the tripod. If the tripod is level and I dont want to move it, I just use either bottom for landscape or There is only one thing that I would change I wish there was a "set screw" at the bottom. A little bit of wiggle is present without applying a huge amount of force. The shifting can be avoided without a tight mounting screw by installing a simple set screw in one of the holes on the bottom. It's a great product, except for that.
I love the way it adds just enough bulk for better grip. With the excellent build quality and the ability to mount an LCD monitor and audio system, I had no problems mounting it. I wish it fit a little more snuggly because after some time it can get loose and loosen up. As for the premium build quality, it would have been nice if it came with a grip, but I made one for my A6000 myself with a 3D printer.
