Very good camera

As a result, I purchased the Amcrest IP5M- T1179EW- 28MM for one of my hotel's Lorex systems, which I installed myself. After one of my Lorex LNE8950ABW cameras was destroyed in a building fire a few months ago, I decided to give this Amcrest IP5M-100 camera a try. T1179EW- 28MM a try as it was 60% cheaper than the LNE8950ABW camera in cost than the LNE8950ABW camera in cost than the LNE8950ABW camera in cost than the LNE8950ABW% Quality: br>br>Quality: br>br>Quality: br>br>Quality br>Excellent construction quality and overall strength of the structure. Considering this is a 5MP camera, I can't believe the image quality is comparable to the Lorex 8MP camera. br>In comparison to black-and-white night vision, the starlight sensor provides better visibility at night in color. At night, I get clearer images of faces, cars, and license plates from a greater distance. This is an excellent camera
5/5

This camera was purchased to replace an Amcrest IP3M-based camera. I have a 956 that I use to keep an eye on my driveway. The IP3M- The 956 is a nice camera, but it lacks the resolution to read license plates on passing cars and has poor night vision. I could see reasonably well at night, especially after adding a separate IR blaster to expand the illuminated area, but only in black and white, making it difficult to distinguish people or features. br>br>In terms of overall resolution, this camera was a significant upgrade. Color mode is now available at night, and the colors are much brighter and more vivid. To demonstrate the differences, I've attached a short video taken with the old camera at night, as well as some snapshots taken with this camera. In that regard, I'm a lot happier. br>br>As you can see in the attached daylight photos, the daytime resolution is better, but not good enough to see a license plate in good light at 60'. That's probably more than one can reasonably expect from a camera at this price. But there's another significant difference with this camera that I wasn't expecting: it has a much wider field of view. I prefer the "square" image because it gives me a better view down the street. br>br>I'm using this camera with artificial intelligence (AI). Instead of Amcrest's own software, HomeGuard surveillance software was used. While the Amcrest software is noticeably better than the previous model (it now works seamlessly with Chrome, whereas the previous model required a clunky add-on), the AI-based features are still lacking. HomeGuard is a genius when it comes to detecting meaningful motions and virtually eliminating false positives. I used to use Blue Iris surveillance software and found all of the options to be overwhelming—and it still produced a lot of false positives. However, regardless of which software you use, this camera will work fine with it (as well as the Amcrest Pro mobile phone software, which can be useful). br>br>Because this was supposed to replace something that was already there, The installation of the hardwired camera was simple. Although it is not stated in the product description, you are not required to use POE (power over Ethernet). It also has the capability of being connected to a wall-mounted device. (However, the power supply is not included, and the connector is semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-semi-se (exclusive). If you want to use POE, you'll need to buy a POE injector or a POE switch separately. There is no wireless (wi-Fi) in this room. This camera has a fi) option, which I consider to be a plus. (Since you'll need to provide power, an Ethernet cable is a better option; you'll have a more reliable connection that won't slow down your wifi. ) )br>br>The camera itself appears to be of high quality. It will be interesting to see if it is as weather-related as it appears to be. Although it is not as durable as my previous one (which has served me well for the past two years), the design is appealing. I had previously used a "dome" camera, which has the advantage of being vandal-proof. I'm not concerned about someone reaching up and changing the camera's focus because it's mounted fairly high up. (However, I'd be hesitant to use this design on my porch, where it would be easy to access. ) ) It's a lot easier to adjust the camera's aim and, if necessary, the micro-focus for that application. SD card (which is MUCH easier on this camera than it was on my old one) or hard-reset the device; speaking of which, I love that this camera can record to an internal SD card (up to 256GB). I have it set to record to the SD card 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and then use the AI HomeGuard software to record only motion. Overall, if you're looking for an IP camera but don't want or need wifi, this is the one to get. This appears to be a great option for a connected model.
