Questions & Answers

Out of the box thinking. Do you have everything you'll need to attach a flash to your camera and start shooting?

It only consists of the "umbrella" and the velcro material that will be attached to it to diffuse light. You'll need some sort of shoe mount.br>I have one and it works great.br>https: //www. amazon. com/gp/product/B004YNEDHK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01 or http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004YNEDHK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01? Is this something that could be used to take prom photos inside a gymnasium?

Yes, the light is a little harsh due to the 32-inch softbox; however, larger softboxes would provide a softer light.

5/5

Hello all, I'm looking at this Neewer 32" softbox. It's designed for photography, but I'm using it right now with my LED to show how it diffuses light across my face. There are three items that come with this umbrella: the umbrella itself, the top diffusion panel, and a carrying bag, which is very useful because the entire package is very lightweight and can be used in a variety of locations. br>br>To get started with this kit, you'll need a few things. To begin, there is- Of course, you'll need a light stand, preferably one with a boom stand; we'll get to that in a minute. The second item is a flash bracket, which will secure your umbrella and flash to the light stand, as well as a wireless flash trigger for your camera so you can use it from afar. You can use the camera flash to trigger it inside the studio because the light will bounce off the walls, but you'll need them outside or for accurate results. br>br>At this price point, the umbrella's construction is also quite sturdy; overall installation time is likely to be under a minute, and you can carry it around open unless it's windy. One of the reasons I mentioned that you'll need a boom pole is that you'll need to pass your light stand through this zipper, and you won't be able to tilt it once it's in place. Connecting it to a pole will allow you to tilt it towards your subject. br>br>Let's look at a few examples to see how much light it diffuses. First, I have this square object; as you can see, this is how it appears without flash, this is how it appears with silver lining, and this is how it appears once the white cover is applied. br>br>So, first, I'll use it with the flash pointed directly at the subject, and you can see all of the shadows on one side; then, I'll turn the flash around, and light will bounce only from the silver lining. Finally, once you've applied the white diffusion paper, this is the final result. br>br>I hope this was helpful; this is one of the best ways to get into and try flash photography because many people misunderstand flash because they don't use proper diffusion and it's a very small light source that appears harsh on the subject. br>br>Definitely give it a try; if you have any questions, please leave them in the comments section below, and as always, thank you for watching.

A good softbox, but keep in mind the limitations
4/5

This is a good-looking octobox at a reasonable price. It's simple to set up and provides a good source of light, but there are a few things to think about before buying it: 1. br>br> There is only one speedlight visible in the photo on the product page. While one speedlight will suffice, I purchased a bracket that will allow me to use two. This improves the distribution of light in the softbox and results in a more even light. 2. br>br>1. br>br>br>br>br>br The light stand is inserted into a slit in the softbox's bottom. After that, you won't be able to tilt the box on the stand, which severely limits its use as a key light if you just use it on a light stand. You can either use a boom or a VAL (voice activated light stand) to mount it.

This is a softbox that I highly recommend
5/5

This is a fantastically well-made piece. The construction is extremely sturdy. It appears that the rods have been strengthened. This is a softbox that I highly recommend. I've included some photos of my setup; I made a custom bracket to use with a regular umbrella because I want my speedlight to be in the center, where the light will be more evenly distributed. as well as the outcome of my first photo shoot.

The Octagon Softbox has made me very happy
5/5

I'm a professional photographer who wanted to experiment with a low-cost octagon softbox. This was fantastic. I use it in conjunction with the Alien Bees 800 light and am very pleased with the results. Portraits will pop if you use a reflector underneath the model. The umbrella's snap for closing it down is a little dangerous for fingers, so use a towel to protect your fingers. This is a low-cost modifier for creating fantastic portraits.

Excellent umbrella softbox and excellent softbox for a great price
5/5

Given that this was my first time using a softbox of this type, it was extremely simple to set up and operate. Using this primarily for portraits, but with excellent results with my Sony A6500 and Nissin Air Commander with Di700A. It takes a little practice to figure out how far away from the subject to set it up and how deep to set the flash in the umbrella, but if you have a patient subject, you'll have no trouble getting great shots. br>br>The quality appears to be good, but I'll have to wait and see if it holds up over time, and if it doesn't, I'll be sure to update my review. I've purchased other Neewer products in the past and have been pleased with the quality and functionality for the price; for the time being, I'm satisfied and can happily recommend this product for the price.

It's fantastic, practical, and a must-have for any pro-athlete

results that look good This Softbox has exceeded my expectations and comes at a very reasonable price. If you want your photos to look professional, you'll need to master lighting. I bought both this size and a 47" one, and if you only buy one, I recommend the huge 47" one, which I prefer. I wouldn't recommend putting the light stand through the zippered hole if you want to angle the softbox more. You can still use the diffuser, but you won't be able to wrap it completely around it. br> I love the lighting I get from this because it completely transforms the horror of any photo taken with direct flash (the most unnatural and unflattering lighting there is) and provides detail without harsh shadows. I have two Nikon SB600 flashes that work wirelessly with my Nikon D750 when the on-camera flash is triggered. (In command mode, set the camera flash to -) or the lowest power, and I also use a piece of paper towel to cover the flash. Even with the Softbox behind me, I have no trouble triggering my flashes)br> The only real drawback, and the reason I only gave it four stars, is the quality. I'm aware that softboxes can cost hundreds of dollars. I only use this in my home and am not a pro at it. The umbrella's fabric appears to be quite light. It works well, but it does not appear to be something that would withstand a lot of use and travel. I haven't worked with more expensive softboxes, but if you need a set that can be folded, stored, and transported, I would look elsewhere. Aside from that, for the price, these are pretty amazing.
