A great camera for 35mm film
5/5

The Minolta 35mm film camera system with automatic focus was my first camera and I travelled Europe in the early '90s with it. In 2000 I switched from film to a digital device, and I haven't looked back at film for many years. I've become more interested in photography lately (just got a Fujifilm X-T1 Fuji X-T2, which is amazing), and read web comments about the high quality Contax G series as an "inspiration" for the Fuji X-T3. In a series. As part of my decision to restart my film journey, I purchased a Contax G2 camera with a Carl Zeiss 28mm lens and a I have lenses that are 45mm in length. It is sure as the sun shines that any piece praising the G series is correct. Contax G2 is a stunning, well-designed, fully-automated camera - it is simple and elegant, and can be used for a range of purposes The range of There is an autofocus and auto rewind on the film advance and rewind of the finder type cameras. As far as modern standards go, it's quaint. It has a manual focus mode, but it can be tricky because 1) it is not an SLR through the lens viewfinder (there is an alignment guide to help) and 2) it uses a wheel on the camera body to focus the lens instead of the conventional on-camera method. The lens ring is made of stainless steel. You can also use the Continuous Mode to take multiple pictures at high or low speeds - it is available in various languages As of yet, I have not tried this. You will be able to take outstanding photos either with the 28 mm or 45 mm Carl Zeiss G lenses This picture is sharp, "contrasty", and has lovely colors As far as getting the exposure right goes, the light meter on the G2 is almost supernatural. It has a bit of a noisy autofocus system but has been relatively With CZ lenses, there is a ring at the aperture that controls the shutter speed, which is displayed on a yellow bar at the bottom of the viewfinder, It is a very effective and simple One thing to consider is purchasing the film and getting it developed (Amazon has a good selection). There are few shops these days that can turn around work in 24 hours You will have to mail the documents to a central location I usually have the scanned photos on my computer within a week Positives are on one line, negatives on the other. The cost of a roll of 24 frames is about $16. The process and results are worth it, but you will be pleased with the process and.

There is nothing dirty or grimy about the camera
4/5

I took five images with the camera initially, but it turned out that the gear on the shutter was broken, so I had to replace it. There have been times when I've been really frustrated, but I don't know how to problem-solve. My hope is to be able to find a place to live. The fact that I'm buying such an expensive stuff for the first time just makes me feel so sad.

It is an excellent 35mm rangefinder
5/5

It has been my pleasure to own a Contax G2 since it was first produced, and I have always loved the camera. In the months leading up to my purchase, I compared Contax and Leica and even though I longed for the Leica, but decided the Leica might have more lenses or power, so I went with the Contax with three lenses (I did not add the superwide or It's never, ever been an issue for me to regret. Lenses made by Zeiss for the G2 have an almost magical quality. Their prints are made with a 3-dimensional feel and are almost 3D in appearance Over the years, I have shot hundreds of rolls, mostly of children playing. Once I became familiar with how the camera focuses and how the manual and automatic settings for exposure, focusing, and depth of field operate, I rarely failed to get the shot I wanted. -and any picture that you like Destroying has always been a part of my own personality. However, many digital cameras offer so many benefits today, and film is becoming less and less useful. I would like to make one small point. Taking pictures with a digital camera is incredibly convenient. The only problem is I don't know how much it would cost that I could get decent shots with a digital camera and lens, and I'm spoiled by the quality of my Contax. Currently, I'm sticking with the Contax for quality shots and my point and shoot for ease of use. In some way or another, the Contax will end up on my shelf, but it will be with me for the rest of my life, just like the old cameras from 60 years ago that people collect today.

It is unclear why the photo was taken with a black contax g2

In the photo, Amazon has used a black Contax G2 camera, so why did you do this on Amazon's behalf.

A film camera that's as good as it gets
5/5

What do you think of G2D? About 10 years ago, I had a G2 when it was new and bought most of the lenses except the zoom and the super wide (15mm? Mostly Fujichrome Velvia and Kodachrome 64 was the film I shot with and it is needless to say the slides looked great when projected through my still working Leica Pradovit projector from late 1970's. There are a lot of slides I have that date back to the late 1960's and they don't appear to have aged at all. German style and Japanese attention to detail were evident from the build quality of this system. The Contax was an unbeatable camera for a fraction of the cost of a Leica. All the lenses in the kit, 22, 28, 35, 45, and 90 lenses, fit in a Lowepro Nova 5 bag and made it a breeze to use compared to a Nikon SLR at the time. I sadly sold it since digital makes more sense these days but there is no match for the Contax G2 in digital (forget Leica - The price is simply too high). Contax could take over all competition if it were provided with a G2d and full-sized sensor that allowed use of all its old G2 lenses, easily routing all the competition! As it stands, I have often wondered if it might happen and if it could be a good idea to buy G2 lenses cheap on eBay in anticipation of the announcement of the G2d and a sudden increase in demand for them. Glasses made by Zeiss are in high demand.
