Yes, the infrared light can be seen, and it worked in complete darkness. We returned, however, due to the presence of visible infrared light.

The device functions well, the buttons are responsive, and the menu is simple to use and self-explanatory. It only takes a few minutes to customize the settings to your liking. Make sure your location's date and time settings are correct. To get a clear picture, I recommend mounting the camera on a tripod and focusing; otherwise, the image will be distorted. Overall, the quality and resolution have left me very impressed.
In general, the structure is sound. You might think you're going to use them like binoculars, but it's more like watching a movie in a small personal theater that you hold up to your eyes, aiming the lens and IR LEDs at the subject. br>I like that it comes with a 32GB SD card, but keep in mind that you'll need 6 AA batteries. A cleaning cloth and a storage case are included as well. br>I've had a lot of fun with it so far. I've seen a couple of wild animals, but I always forget to record them. I created and attached a review video that gives you an overview of the product as well as some sample footage of the creek behind my house. br>While these aren't designed to be used as military night vision goggles, they are fun for casual night viewing activities and would be fantastic for kids to play with at night!.
I had ordered a different one. After comparing the features, I decided to pass on the first one and go for this one instead. br>br>In my 34 years as a paranormal investigator, I've accumulated approximately 4. The equipment is valued at $5,000. Despite the fact that my video camera has both IR and "Full Spectrum," turning it on quickly, switching from day to IR, and switching from video to single shot is a royal pain in the caboose. This is a LOT less difficult scope! It's also a little lighter, a little smaller, and lacks the extra IR/Full Spectrum light on the side. The video screen/viewer is adequate, if a little small. The buttons are large enough, but you won't be able to use them until you've learned how to use them by touch. They're difficult to react to in a timely manner. *Please note*— You can see decals that I made with my Brother Label Maker in the photo I included. To put it another way, tbus scope did not include them as a feature. Tonight, I'll be expanding the top buttons. It's a long journey that not only helps me understand the scope, but also my teammates. A message to the corporation- In the dark or when a quick response is required, a different designed button would be extremely helpful. Possibly a raised "braille" like raised ridge of some sort?br>br>Whereas the first scope I mentioned didn't have a video cable to transfer data from the memory card to a computer/Chrome Book, this one DOES have a Micro USB port and a rather short data cable. That's all fine and dandy, BUT- The year 2021 is fast approaching! A type C connector would be SO much better! br>br>WiFi would have been a huge plus for me! COOLIFE, adding it isn't THAT much more expensive! This would have been ideal for paranormal investigators, hunters, security guards, and other types of investigators who need to be "away" from a location where anomalies or activities have been reported. br>br>I, too, would have preferred a carrying device. I understand that in order to keep the price low, there can't be too many "bells and whistles"- but JESH! A waterproof bag isn't something I recommend! It's just SOMETHING to take with you. br>br>While this is waterproof, keep it out of high-humidity areas for a short time. (As we occasionally encounter when ghost hunting) Use caution; It isn't latex coated, but I wish it was, at the very least, on the raised edges of this scope. I'm working on my own "MacGyvered" neck cord that will fit into the female threaded adapter on the unit's bottom. (It's a tripod - it's what it's for. ) not included)br>br>Please use high-quality batteries (rechargeable batteries are not recommended for the budget-conscious! ) and put them away when not in use. The battery life has been excellent. However, always bring more than you need, and keep backups DRY (along with this scope) so they don't interfere with the device's operation. br>br>Thank you for giving me the chance to review! br>br>John "Doc" Lykinsbr>NREMT- NREMT- NREMT- NREMT- NREMT- NREMT- NREMT- NREMT- NREMT- NREM (Ret. ) paramedic )br>Virginia Paranormal Exploration Societybr>"VaPES" (Virginia Paranormal Exploration Society) (Virginia Paranormal Exploration Society) (Virginia Paranormal Exploration Society.
These were purchased for nighttime boating and I am very pleased with the results! For the average consumer, night vision has advanced significantly. The Elf monocular cost $500 ten years ago, and I remember paying $500 for it. It couldn't even come close to producing a picture as good as this one. I just wanted to see if there were any hazards on the water and zoom in to see channel markers. I also like the added feature of being able to record and capture images. Looking at the screen rather than the lens requires a different mentality, but it worked for me. The infrared is also quite powerful, so I usually only use it on the lowest setting.
I understand that 850nm IR is slightly visible but performs better in terms of sensitivity, whereas 940nm is invisible but performs poorly in terms of sensitivity. br>br>Having said that, this has a focal length of around 150-200mm. If my guess is correct, it's 200mm, and you can adjust the focus but not the zoom, which isn't a big deal. Even for regular HD captured as a video and photos, the images are fairly grainy. br>br>The battery life has also been exceptional. Above all, I was astounded by how much IR the unit could emit, which lit up the nearest clouds in the sky. Not that I could see fine details, but it does demonstrate the range of this IR. So any distance of a few hundred feet is no problem for this unit! If you want to keep the video still, I recommend using a monopod or tripod because of the longer focal length. Otherwise, you can easily hold the device in your hands. br>br>I like that you get a free 32GB micro SD card, though you can always upgrade to a larger one, which is currently available for a low price on Amazon. Overall, this is a great and fun night vision goggles that can also be used as a regular binocular during the day if you want to bird watch or see things in the distance because of the zoom limitation!.
