I'm not sure why I didn't return this item in the time allotted. Now I'm stuck with a pair of mediocre magnifiers that force you to hold objects 3 inches away from your eyes to see details - Even then, the image is blurry, and finding a suitable viewing location is difficult.
With a magnifier, the field of view is too narrow. I ultimately had to return it. I wanted it to aid my vision while soldering computer boards. To use my soldering iron and my hands, I need at least a 12-inch depth of view. The depth of view was not included in the power specifications provided by the manufacturer. This would've been extremely beneficial. In addition, I had a double-blind experience. With the visor on, you can see what you want to see. Perhaps the interplay between the two I couldn't use ocular distance because it didn't work for me.
Remember that image on the box of the elderly gentleman working at a comfortable distance? His eyes must be terrible, because when I use these magnifiers with 'perfect' vision, my focal length is less than 6" from my eyeballs at 2x, and even less at 3x. This places three in the middle. Between the actual magnifier and whatever you're working on, there's about 4" of free space, which is just enough to work but not comfortably. br>br>I believe that image is deceptive, and there's a reason why the focal length isn't listed in the product data. I'm sorry I didn't inquire prior to placing my order.
This does the job well for a low price, is comfortable to wear, and allows me to see "up close. " I've used it to put sights on pistols and touch up my makeup. The money spent was well spent.
I chose this because I work with a microcontroller, which is a small device. One disadvantage is that in order to see better, I had to move my head too close to the microcontroller. Microcontroller was pushed by these glasses on occasion. Aside from that, it's fantastic!.
Because of my father's failing eyesight, I purchased this for him. Other gadgets had been sent to him, but he said this was by far the best. I'd buy something for him again in a heartbeat.
It's nice and light, but the focal length isn't as long as I had hoped.
