Using the wrong side of the box could have caused you to miss these items as they are inserted into the styrofoam in a less than intuitive manner. The only way I knew to do this is because I watched a YouTube video where they pointed this out during the unboxing and assembly. It also goes over all the parts in that video, but I agree with you, there needs to be a parts list and assembly instructions included with these units. Is it that hard to include a link to a pdf or print something?

The small pair of rubber eyecups that I purchased from OMAX fit There is a little looseness in the eyecup, so I would not pull out the eyepiece by grasping it. If you do that, then the eyepiece might fall off, but they would not come off very easily while wearing them. When viewing with the eye cups, it made a big difference for me in terms of comfort.
