No, this model does not come with a camera; however, I've heard that Amscope's cameras aren't particularly good. However, almost all microscope cameras fit into the eyepiece, so you can always get one later if you want. If you're serious about seeing details and/or photography while also wanting the convenience of a binocular microscope, a DSLR mounted on a trinocular microscope is your best bet. If you only intend to use the computer, then get a monocular microscope and mount a DSLR on it. There are a plethora of choices available to you.
The box was thrown away, but it was roughly 1ft x 1ft x 2ft in size. This box was contained within a larger box filled with paper padding (about 6" on each side). A clam-like creature was kept in the smaller microscope box. Styrofoam crate in the shape of a shell with cavities for storing microscope parts and accessories. The microscope is broken down into two or three subassemblies that snap together with ease.
Yes, it's made of solid metal and is quite heavy.

I had been looking for a microscope that could do gram staining and see cells, and this scope arrived on time. This is an excellent product. The lack of instructions did not bother me because I believe the process of setting up the scope is fairly intuitive, but if you need more information, there are dozens of websites that can help. The first "test" I performed was a cheek swab, and I was able to see and identify the cheek cells and nuclei with ease. For this scope, I also purchased the Amscope 3 megapixel camera, which I am pleased with. This range of applications goes beyond typical homeschool or high school applications and can easily be used for more advanced biological experiments and tests.
I should preface this by saying that I am not an expert on microscopes. This microscope was purchased for my family's use, and I am very happy with it. I was able to use it within 10 minutes of opening the package without having to read the manual. The microscope's build quality is excellent, as is the lighting. We were looking at hair, spoiled hamburgers, and other things in no time; the eyepieces can adjust close enough for my 20-month-old son to see, and binocular vision is much better than single-eyepiece vision. Accessory kits, such as dark field lighting, can be added to the microscope. Overall, this microscope has exceeded my expectations.
This is not a toy, but rather a high-quality, sturdy microscope. There are only a few minor flaws in the item's packaging. It's very simple to put it together because it's made up of snap-together assemblies. We also purchased a 25-pre-prepared slide set from Amscope, which was of good quality and allowed us to get started right away. An introductory book on microscopy and a set of blank slides were also included with the microscope. Amscope has provided me with my second microscope. The first was a low-power model that was used for electronic circuit assembly and inspection.
The microscope was in good working order when it was delivered. br>Even a 9-year-old could set it up and use it. The only criticism is that the blood cell smear slide did not come into focus when using the oil and highest objective. I would strongly suggest it.
