Is it possible to see cells under a microscope?

I examined a variety of plants as well as a sample of blood. The plant's cell walls can be seen, allowing you to distinguish between cell boundaries. Blood, on the other hand, is difficult to work with. I could only see the platelets, which were the size of a needle's head, even at 1000x magnification with immersion oil. So, yes, cells from organisms with larger cells can be seen, but not so much from humans.

This was a gift for my grandson, who is six years old. It may appear to be too advanced for a child of that age, but he enjoys it and can operate it independently. Of course, his father joins him in the room and shares the experience with him; it is a "toy" that will provide years of learning and fun.
