Questions & Answers

Is there anything else I need to connect my Canon 580 xii flash? I don't know what to think. Is there a kit that I can purchase (I also require a light stand and an umbrella). ?

It may appear perplexing at first, but get the Pocket Wizard AC7 first because the mount will simplify things. Are those units equipped with pocket wizatd radios or an infrared system? It will work, but the distance is short, and sunlight (IR light) will block the signal, causing it to become inconsistent. Look at the photoflex RUT 45 or 30 and the Manfrotto 0001b light stands (both are inexpensive and durable). These will last a long time (for umbrellas). Chimera makes nice speedlite softboxes that are my favorite and cost around $120. 00, with a 20-year life expectancy

Do you have any experience using this with a Cheetah Stand?

Up until now, I had never heard of them. Manfrotto is the only brand I use because the price, value, and quality are unrivaled. I have a couple of stands that have been with me for over a decade and are completely dependable.

Is the umbrella held straight through the hole, or is it angled so that the light is projected to the umbrella's center?

Your umbrella's hole isn't drilled all the way through. It's angled up so that your flash will hit the center of it. I'd say the angle is between 15 and 20 degrees above horizontal. Google "Manfrotto 026 Lite-Tite Swivel Umbrella Adapter CamCrunch at 1:50" to find the video by "CamCrunch." 27 is a good example of this. It's a great place to put your speedlite and umbrella. Love it.

Is there any way to tell if this will be turned into a Neewer stand?

It's not an issue. This clamp can be used to connect to almost any size of stand; the two ends can clamp directly to a large diameter stand, or a stud can be inserted into the opening to provide male or female screw fittings. These are excellent, high-quality swivels, but if you're using lightweight stands, keep in mind that they're quite heavy. You'll need to be careful to keep it balanced once you've added a speedlight and an umbrella or softbox.

Like a tank, it's built to last
5/5

I bought this after trying out a few light stands and noticing how much plastic they contain, and how difficult it is to find something solid. When I bought a Westcott stand and beauty dish, I received this right away. Plastic parts, in my opinion, should not be used because they will eventually break and need to be replaced. br>So I didn't think twice about buying it from Manfrotto, who also make camera bags, tripods, and light stands. The weight is adequate, and it is capable of holding anything, which is exactly what you require. What you pay for is exactly what you get. This is my first professional light snad and bracket for hanging my speedlights and umbrella(s), and I'll be getting another soon. br>If you're serious about your gear and the quality of your work, do yourself a favor and buy this; don't be put off by the price. br>One thing I didn't understand at first was which way to point my umbrella; I'm new to speedlights lighting, and while I've used it a few times before, I'm now incorporating it into my natural light flow to add more drama and depth to my images, as well as for those portraits.

I bought three of them because they were so good

There's no reason to own anything else, in my opinion. I understand that you can nickel and dime yourself to death, but there are some things that are truly worth the extra money. In my opinion, the 026 is the best. br>br>I'm relatively new to photography, so as I prepared to enter the larger world of off-camera flash photography, I thoroughly researched my equipment options. This is a no-brainer, to be honest. The 5/8's inserts on either end provide nearly universal compatibility with mounting options, putting the 026 ahead of the pack right away. The 026 is obviously intended to be mounted on a light stand, but the included female adaptor allows it to be threaded onto a 1/4" or 3/8" male threaded mount. These adaptors aren't included in all of the alternatives. br>br>All of the locks are simple to operate, and once tightened, the rig becomes a solid bridge. The main pivot lock is the best of these. It is the most significant of the locks. The handle can also be "unlocked" and pointed to a more convenient angle before being reengaged once it has been tightened down. The tensioners on the other hand are well-designed and well-placed. The "top lock" that normally holds your hot shoe mount is one thing I would change to make this design better. Instead of a clamp, a knob would have been preferable. The rest is fairly standard across the board. br>br>To summarize, the Manfrotto 026 umbrella adaptor costs $30-$40. When compared to the price of a decent flash, that isn't exactly a bargain. In fact, for the price of a decent light, I wouldn't trust anything else. There is one more thing. Do yourself a favor and don't try to mount a speedlight to this. Purchase a shoe mount adaptor for your Stroboframe. These are the best because they provide a firm grip on the hoe shoe's foot. They also have a cutaway on the bottom of the flash that provides plenty of room for the contacts (i. e. preventing them from shorting out on each other ) There is one caveat: the stroboframe has a small screw on the bottom that causes clearance issues; to get proper clearance and a solid lock, the brass thread adaptor must be set about 3/16" high in the holder.

Not only is it required, but it is also an excellent adapter

This Manfrotto swivel umbrella adapter allows you to connect your light stand to accessories like an umbrella, a radio remote, or your speedlite flash directly. It's a substantial piece of work. long-term commitment It will be a long-term addition to your bag. br>br>Prosbr>* All heavy-duty equipment * The main adjustment handle is on an external socket that allows you to re-adjust it. br>* The main adjustment handle is on an external socket that allows you to re-adjust it. A cupped, captive, center-facing camera would be one of the enhancements. top and bottom tightening screws have a swiveling end; This will prevent the screw from causing damage to your accessories (or collapsing hollow umbrella tubes). I marked the normal "in" side for a while, until I got used to the directionality of the umbrella socket, so I wouldn't feed the umbrella in backwards inadvertently. Either way works, but you should be aware of your intended use and direction for aiming your flash before deciding on the best method.

After one of the handles on my Impact bracket broke off in my hand while tightening it with my hand, I bought two more.
