Since I have had to patch the fraying cable for my iPhone charger for years, I have used white electrical tape. It is far better to use this heat shrink tube. A high temperature is required to actually melt and shrink the tubing, which causes my only concern. Due to how long it took to melt/shrink the tubing with a heat gun, I was afraid that I was damaging my charging cable. Nevertheless, the cable appears to be working as expected so far.
The tube takes quite some time to work its way through the entire length of cable without using a stiff wire to guide the tube. The application process is pretty straightforward as soon as you get a handle on it. You can use a heat gun if you have one, and cut off the excess only after it has been shrunk down to the desired shape.
The perfect solution to my problem. You'll be able to do plenty of cords with that amount. Tested it on my new cords to protect them, as well as a beat up old cord to see how it performed. To demonstrate before and after, I added some photos.
It is listed as being for iPhone cables only as its description states. Even if you did wider cables, it will still shrink very much. I fit a Belkin and Duracell cable together, and their "heads" are much thicker than Apple's, but even if you do wider ones, it will.
The shrink isn't working 30% is a more accurate figure. Despite my efforts, I could only build up a couple layers before it slipped off without additional adhesive. It is also not tight enough to protect the cable diameter, so I could not repair it.
I agree, excellent! I recommend the product because it is good quality.
It seems to work fine. For a snug fitting garment, there is good shrinkage.
