I needed a strong mount for my third-generation Echo Dot that could be mounted horizontally or vertically. My outlets are horizontal, as can be seen in the photo, and a backsplash prevents the mount from being positioned vertically. As a result, I needed the wall mount to be able to be oriented horizontally rather than vertically, as shown. The wall mount is made up of two injection-molded plastic pieces. One piece of molded plastic fits into the other for a secure fit around the A/C adapter. The Echo Dot snaps into the mount, which is made of durable plastic and reinforced with struts. br>br>Instead of the previous mounts I purchased on Amazon having a shorter wire from the A/C adapter to the Echo Dot, this one has a longer wire. com for Echo Dot versions 1 and 2, this one has a recessed area beneath the mount to catch the excess wire. br>br>My mount came without instructions, but it was simple enough to figure out. br>br>My only concern when purchasing this mount was some previous reviews claiming that it and other mounts slipped out of the outlet. My mount and outlet didn't have any issues with this. I believe the previous reviewers' outlets were old and didn't grip the A/C adapter's prongs well, allowing it to slip out. The wall outlet, not the mount, is the source of the problem.
I only have a small amount of space above the counter on the kitchen wall, and my other unit will not fit. I considered turning it inside out, so that was another factor to consider when choosing a holder. br>br>In total, this holder is nearly two inches shorter than the one I first bought. It's fashionable, and the white plastic isn't gleaming or cheap. I'm pleased with my decision. br>br>A couple of points to consider: br>br>1) The power cable DOES EXTEND BEYOND THE SPEAKER AND IS VISIBLE. This isn't true in the main Amazon image, but it is in others. This was something I was aware of before I entered the room. This is how they reduce the length compared to other holders- The cord is visible because it is plugged in opposite the power adapter. It wasn't noticeable enough in my case to detract from the overall appearance. br>br>2) Make sure it's plugged into an OUTER outlet. To put it another way, if you're going to hang it from the ceiling, plug it into the lower outlet. If you plan to mount it with the speaker above the adapter (as I had originally planned), you'll need to plug it into the upper outlet. ) Why? Because there are protrusions beneath the speaker that extend beyond the adapter cover's bottom. I tried plugging it into the upper outlet to gain more clearance beneath it, but the lower half of the holder didn't sit flat against the bottom half of the outlet. It was obvious that it was no longer parallel to the wall. With those two considerations in mind, I continue to recommend it.
Compared to other styles, this one is more compact. Except for where it plugs into the dot port from below, the wire is wrapped behind and hidden. When hung vertically, it looks great. It's only available in black, but I'd like it in white as well.
After some research, I discovered that this one had the most positive reviews (or, to be more precise, the fewest negative reviews). As a result, I'm very excited! This is extremely well-made and durable, not at all flimsy. When it comes to winding up the cord, it was given some thought, and it's simple to do (hint: Begin at the outermost ring and work your way to the center, making sure to "stack" the cord twice or three times on each run). Anyway, I like it because it functions well, looks great, and appears to be well-made. Three more are on the way!.
I ordered a new dot and this holder the day before yesterday, and they were delivered today. The new plug has a rectangular shape, while the holder has a square shape. Fortunately, I have an older echo and was able to simply replace the plugs, but if you are unable to do so, I would not recommend it. Even so, I gave it five stars because it fits the older one snugly and has a low profile.
I got exactly what I needed for a reasonable price. It arrived in 2 days at my convenience and took less than a minute to assemble and place in its proper location. Simply unplug and take it with me if I want to move it to another room. There are no cords being dragged.
I wanted an outlet mount for my Echo Dot so I could place it somewhere central without having to hide all of the wires. This mount appealed to me because it is slightly smaller than the majority of the other mounts available on Amazon. While a sliver of wire protrudes from the bottom, it isn't as bothersome to me as I had anticipated. There were no problems because the power adapter and wire fit snugly behind the mount. Everything is well-made, and I like the way it looks.
It's quite effective. The Echo is kept off the counter with this. When the Echo is on the wall rather than in the counter, the sound is slightly muffled.
