2 feet seems like a long distance, but I suppose it depends on what you're micing and how much room reverb you're comfortable with. This mic, similar to an SM57 but with a more pleasant top end, is well suited to snare drums and guitar cabs for me.

It's a cool day. I bought this because the frequency response graph looked like it would be ideal for my baritone voice, and after spending a few hours testing it today, it turns out I was right. Unlike many vocal microphones, this one does not attempt to compensate for proximity effect, which means you can experiment with it as a variable, which I always appreciate. Simply move away from the speaker if your voice is too loud. If you want to emphasize some of the low-key aspects, End by placing your mouth within a few inches of the microphone for the "radio voice" effect (or simply to help your voice's low end). br>br>In terms of noise, this mic sounds exactly like a Shure Beta 58A to me. It doesn't pick up more background noise than it should, but it also doesn't require you to be in close proximity to get good levels. Off- Because of the high axis rejection, it should be capable of high gain before feedback. It appears to be even less sensitive to background noise than the 58A as I continue to test it. br>br>On the other hand, on the high-end This mic is clear and crisp in the low and midranges, without being sibilant or muffled in any way. When I speak into this mic at a 90-degree angle, I've noticed something. degree angle in front of it (as in, perpendicular to the end but far enough away that the air from my plosives doesn't hit the mic - I do this for streaming occasionally) and it's actually *even* crisper and clearer than the 58A in this position. br>br>I put "male voices" in the headline, but this mic is so warm and crisp that I think anyone, regardless of gender, would sound great on it. It's simply a fantastic dynamic microphone in general. br>br>Overall, I was blown away.
The sE V7x microphone was not working. During troubleshooting, I tried various mic cables as well as various microphones. The mic box wasn't completely sealed, which I noticed. I've been a sound engineer for 40 years, and this is the first time I've ever had a "dead" mic that was brand new out of the box. I returned it to Amazon after repackaging it.
I'm blown away by how easy it is to get a beefy, tight kick sound without even touching the eq on my mixer by simply changing settings! This mic was able to make a 20x12 kick sound as good as any other standard size kick. I'm going to swap out my shure beta 52 in my 22 for this one as soon as possible!.
I like that this mic comes with 5 factory presets for various sounds, is simple to set up, and can easily fit inside the bass drum.
