There is no mounting hardware included, and it is not stated whether or not screws are included. I suppose it's my fault for assuming that someone would purchase something with the expectation of being able to mount it. I guess I'll have to go to the hardware store after all.
This is the first time I've ever encountered this issue with Ram mounts. It would have been better if I had gotten it straight from Ram.
I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. It doesn't appear to be the same as the product images. br>br> For a better idea of how it looks in person, check out the customer photos. br>br>The material is comparable to the back of a used pickup truck. It's extremely durable and will last a lifetime, but it's scuffed and worn out. br>br>In that sense, it's more suited to an industrial setting than an elegant office or studio. It's fine unless no one will see it. br>br>Until you realize they didn't include any screws, in which case it's useless. br>br>Two different "gotchas" for such a simple product demonstrates a lack of understanding. 2 stars.
I wanted to add another accessory that could be mounted in the same location, so I ordered a second ball. This was my first time using Ram Mounts, and I believe the description should have mentioned the various sizes. And it's more than just a number. As a result, I squandered ten dollars, and it's not worth returning. I've now placed an order for the correct part; I'm not sure why the sizes are different. If there is a legitimate reason, the balls should be different colors to make it clear.
I knew mounting screws would not be included when I ordered this. M5-style screws will work with this. I purchased an interior mount for my truck in order to mount a few miscellaneous items, and I ended up using M5. br>br>However, there are 80 threads, and they all work fine. br>br>As a whole, it's RAM. RAM products appeal to me because they are versatile enough to be used as a mounting base for almost any application. These little mounts perform admirably; the only reason I gave them four stars is because the mounting screw size is not specified, which I understand given that the company knows these mounts can be used for anything. So much of my research was based on the luck of the draw of standing in a hardware store and finding the right screw. br>br>However, you can't go wrong with RAM as a system. They're good products, and depending on your desired outcome, you can find a good number of aftermarket products that use them if you know where to look.
I've had ram mounts that I've moved around from project to project, and I needed some more this time. br>br>The quality of this is significantly lower than that of br>br>The quality of this is significantly lower than that of br>br>The quality of this is significantly Those that were bought six years ago. br>br>I'm aware that some manufacturing has been moved offshore, and I can't help but wonder if this is to blame. The coating isn't as thick as it should be, the casting appears to be of lower quality, and the holes aren't completely drilled. br>br>I would have assumed it was a knockoff if it hadn't come in "official" RAM packaging.
No mounting screws or nuts are included, as others have stated, leaving you with a diamond ball mount and nothing to attach it to. In addition, the product description provides no information to the buyer in either direction. When I bought GPS holders from RAM MOUNTS in the past, the hardware screws were included in the package. Some people believe that these mounts are knock-offs. Because some of them are scratched and have loose paint chips, they're considered write-offs. I examined my old mounts closely and noticed two imprints on the base: PATENTED and RAM RAM RAM RAM RAM RAM RAM RAM RAM RAM RAM RAM RAM RAM RAM Because this mount only bears the RAM imprint, it's possible that it's a duplicate. In any case, I paid $3 for the screws on the RAM MOUNTS website. 99 for the package, and I tried out the diamond mount, which appears to work and does not slip like some others have claimed. The seller should include a note that "mounting hardware is sold separately" and offer it as an optional extra.
A few of these have been purchased by me. The mounting system is flexible but secure, and the quality is consistent. Because it's overbuilt for most applications, the RAM Mount ball and socket system is a little clumsy, but that's exactly what I want when mounting an expensive phone to the handlebars of an adventure motorcycle that might be driven over potholes and washboard dirt roads.
