No, you'll need the 1" ball for this, but in a pinch, you could 'wrap' the smaller ball in leather or something to give it a similar diameter. br>Most people will opt for the larger ball for their phone mount because it is more secure.
Mine has a 1" ball on the end of a Ram Mount bar clamp. There are no Ram suction ball mounts that I am aware of.

I have to say, the Claw is a fantastic product; it bites down on whatever it is clamped to. Very sturdy, and thanks to the rubber tether, even the vibration from my bike doesn't cause it to turn, as some of the complaints I've read about the Phablet phone holder with my iPhone 6s Plus have claimed. I also purchased Ram's 6" large Aluminum arm to use with my GoPro to help reduce video vibration. The quality of the entire setup is immediately apparent. I am very happy with my purchase. I would buy it again because nothing compares to the quality and stability of the Ram. I've tried almost every other brand out there and nothing compares to the Ram's quality and stability. I got it in two days as usual with my Prime membership, which I really appreciate.
In my 2016 Ford F150, it worked perfectly.
Some RAM Mounts now come with cheap plastic junk as a replacement. After the shorter plastic "composite" version failed catastrophically, this one has held up beautifully. The aluminum's powder coating grips the rubber balls much better than the plastic, allowing you to use less tension on the tightening mechanism (and thus extend the product's lifespan). The RAM suction mount is a little on the heavy side, but it's worth it.
I'm reviewing them as a group and repeating the review across all because I bought several components that work together. Because my time with the product has been limited, I can only offer my initial thoughts. RAM's products are truly incredible! They are on the higher end of the price spectrum for this type of product, but the old adage "you get what you pay for" certainly applies here. This group of products has a lot of features that I really enjoy: br>br>1 - If you're looking for a unique way to express yourself, try using the words "innov The devices are stable once they've been installed and tightened down. There is very little vibration. Also, when placing the phone in the cradle, it does not swivel.
2 - The cradle grip's X configuration allows for the most airflow possible around the phone. My previous phone was damaged by overheating after spending an extended period of time in a cradle in the sun. The RAM components not only allow for more air flow, but the long arm also allows the unit to be positioned further inside the vehicle, just past the rear-view mirror. During the hottest times of the day, look in the rearview mirror to reduce the amount of direct sun exposure.
3 - This is the EASIEST cradle I've ever used to insert and remove my phone. Right now, I'm using a LG G3. br>br>At the moment, I have two sets of this product, one for each vehicle. In the phone grip cradle, the LG G3 with a case is a little tight. It's not at all bad. However, I must insert it at an angle before straightening it. For the second, I went with the larger grip version. It's a lot simpler to get the phone in and out now. I've yet to come across a disadvantage to the larger vs normal size. I'll let you know as soon as I have more information.
RAM has delivered exactly what was expected. Aluminum that has been powder coated and is suitable for use in the marine environment. A large (almost excessively large) thumb screw ensures a secure fit. Putting it on and taking it off is a breeze. The spring tension on one end is nice because it keeps the arm from falling off while you remove the thumb screw tension. This is a fantastic feature. It is well-made. RAM mounts do exactly what they say they do. I'd recommend it, and I'd buy it again.
Just what I needed to raise my dash cam to a level where I could see the road without being obstructed. Because the original arm was too close to my instruments, it picked up glare from them. This one is just long enough for me to mount my dash cam on my handlebars while avoiding glare and not blocking my field of vision.
I have no trouble mounting and unmounting it because the construction is excellent and the tolerances are precise. mounting the proper holder or adjusting it to the desired position.
