Yes. The XL comes with more ink and (naturally) a longer life. The XXL appeals to me even more, but I've only seen it in black. The 240 and 241 are included in the original printer. The 240xl and 241xl make excellent replacements. Also, I find that genuine Canon cartridges are far superior to generics. The higher price is justified.

Selected User Reviews For Canon PG-240 XL / CL-241 XL Amazon Pack
These items were purchased for use in my Canon 3620 laser printer, and I've been purchasing them since the printer was purchased. Genuine Canon 240, 241 ink cartridges are ideal for this printer; there is no smudging, and I always get a crisp, clear print. I am very pleased with this product, and have been ordering it for years.
It's sold separately at my local Best Buy or Office Depot, and I have to pay a little more than what Amazon is asking for it. If you know your printer's ink number, purchasing it as a bundle through here is highly recommended. It works the same way it would if he went out and bought it normally.
The ink I got was completely dry. The color works, but it's very faint, and the black ink is still showing as empty, despite the fact that I replaced the cartridge with a brand new one. I double-checked that the update button in my Canon printer settings was turned on, but it still reads as empty and refuses to print anything in black ink. I've only done a print test, but the color ink is also extremely low, and I've done all of the necessary troubleshooting, so it's not the printer, which is brand new. I've kept these properly and unopened, but they're empty and I can't even do a print test, which is very disappointing. I've never had a problem with Canon ink before, so there was obviously something wrong.
I only needed black and a good price, so I ordered the set in November of this year. br>Unfortunately, last night when I attempted to use the color cartridge, 3. It wasn't recognized by my printer because it was 20. br>Today is the third day of the third month. My husband and I examined the cartridge on the 20th and discovered that the metal ID tag had been removed. Because the metal covering on my ink cartridge is missing, my printer will not recognize it, even though it is full and brand new. So, what do I do now that my return date has passed? br>I ordered a second set, but when they arrive, I'll inspect BOTH of them. Hopefully, both of them will be usable and undamaged.
I ordered a refilled cartridge set when my printer ran out of ink recently in an attempt to save money. Despite my attempts to restart the printer, neither of them worked. After giving up, I decided to go ahead and order the genuine product. When I put them in, they worked perfectly. My printer responds well to new cartridge ink (no smears or skips). They are a little more expensive, but in the long run, my attempt at re-use has proven to be unsuccessful. In terms of time and frustration, I found that manufactured carts were more expensive.
I used to order black and white and color ink directly from Cannon, but their website has become extremely difficult to navigate. After a while, I gave up trying to use their website. It wasn't a bad deal because they were also sending me free glossy photo paper. There were no significant price differences. The problem is that ordering Canon cartridges through Amazon was so much easier that it is now my preferred method. The same product, but with a simpler and faster ordering process.
I was making a picture collage of my husband and his grandpa (who raised him and was his only father) who had passed away a few weeks before for Father's Day, and I was using a new printer that came with a free photo design application and I kept trying different designs and patterns and the print preview was perfect so I would press print well the photos were getting cut off of the paper and I was struggling to figure out the correct settings well after an hour of wading through the settings Every time I printed, I was printing full page prints on 8x11 paper with high resolution set, and I printed about 3/4 of a pack of photo paper, most of which was wasted, but I still have ink. It was a good investment. For your printer, I recommend getting the XL or XXL only. I would not have run out of ink before I could make this gift if I had purchased the regular ink instead of the XL.
Despite their high cost, these are of excellent, authentic quality. I'm not going to buy low-cost brands any longer. Investing in high-quality ink is well worth the money. The color combination is fantastic.
