Questions & Answers

Does this work with a USB cable? I'm wondering if I can use it on a computer that doesn't have Bluetooth. ?

Yes, it comes with a USB cable that you'll need to connect to a computer to update the firmware, but I've never used it to play games on a computer.

I'm curious as to what the four lights at the bottom represent. The first is always on green light, but the others haven't changed at all?

The number of these four green lights illuminated on the first four controllers on the Nintendo Switch will indicate which player number it represents, one through four. The single green light indicates that you are the first player.

Is it possible to get a replacement for my controller if it breaks?

That is, I believe, the vendor's decision. The Bluetooth version of their controllers has worked flawlessly for me.

The Nintendo Switch version is fantastic
5/5

These were originally purchased to be used with a Fire TV Pendant and the Sega Classics app. It's fine for that, but when my son received a Nintendo Switch for Christmas, I decided to give it a try. It works great with Mario Kart 8, allowing for tilt control, or you can go old school with the analog joystick or even more old school with the D-pad. pad. There is no discernible lag in response time. br>br>I also played Sonic Mania and Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Edition (30 years? My age is catching up with me. It was also effective in those games. br>br>Charging the controller is as simple as plugging in a USB cable. C cable is a type of cable that is becoming increasingly popular. The commonality is nice because that's the same cable type you'll need to charge the Switch console/tablet. br>br>These aren't cheap, but they're well worth it. You're going to get a classic-styled product. No lag in the controller, excellent battery life, tilt control, and analog joysticks It feels exactly like a SNES controller when you're blindfolded, making it ideal for both adult and child hands.

Side Scrollers or a Travel Controller would be great with this
4/5

This product appealed to me because it could be used for a variety of purposes, and it hasn't let me down. br>br>I've paired and played games with it on Switch, Mac, and RetroPie so far, and it's worked flawlessly each time; pairing with Switch is a little more difficult than pairing with a regular Pro controller, but the instructions that came with it were simple to follow. Overall, I believe the value proposition is there simply because it can be used for so many different purposes. br>br>In games where the D-pad is used, the controller shines. The most common mode of transportation is the pad. I've been using it to play Steam World Dig 2 on the Nintendo Switch, and I prefer it to the Switch Pro controller or the Joycon for that game. Also great for Nintendo Switch Online NES games. br>br>Analog stick games aren't as comfortable, but they're still playable. I found it to be a good fit for Super Mario Odyssey. Games that require a lot of use of the L1, L2, R1, and R2 buttons are even less comfortable, as they are small and more difficult to hit quickly and accurately. I still believe that with a little more practice, it could work, but games like Breath of the Wild and Diablo 3 (which have unique functions for each shoulder and trigger button) are difficult to master at first. br>br>Battery life appears to be excellent. I charged it to full capacity when it arrived, and after nearly 15 hours of use, I still haven't had to plug it in. br>br>This seller (RunSnail) threw in a case with the controller, which is a nice extra. I wouldn't mind throwing this controller in my bag when I travel because it's much smaller (and lighter) than a regular Switch Pro controller. br>Overall, after several days of gaming, I'm very pleased with the product and would recommend it to anyone looking for a bluetooth controller that will work well for 2D and retro games on multiple platforms.

Uncomfortable on occasion, but no button presses by accident! This is what an SNES controller would have looked like if it had joysticks
5/5

br>br>The colors are vibrant, the material is comfortable to hold, and the joysticks are full-sized (which I much prefer to the joycon sticks). It also connects to my Switch as well as my phone (thank you, Bluetooth). In addition, the D- Because there are few accidental inputs on the pad, it's suitable for Tetris. br>br>The motion controls are adequate, but I wouldn't use it to play a lot of Splatoon. Because that game makes use of so many of the controller's button inputs, it's difficult to hold the controller comfortably. The ergonomics, on the other hand, are a little off. There is no comfortable way to grip it for a long period of time while still allowing access to both joysticks. Unlike when you're in charge of the D-, when you're in charge Reaching the joysticks in the middle requires either curving your wrists or reaching over to reach the shoulder buttons on an SNES controller, where you can use your thumbs and grip your fingers underneath it. I'd like to think my hands aren't THAT small, but I couldn't find a comfortable position that didn't hurt after half an hour. br>br>However, there is one feature in particular that makes me wish Nintendo included it in their controllers: Accidental button presses do not turn it on, which is a feature that alone earns this controller 5 stars. If you toss the pro controller into a bag, it will search for the Switch and slowly drain its own battery as it jostles and presses buttons. It's ridiculous, given how long the pro controller's battery lasts. br>br>However, depending on which system you're activating it for, this controller requires a specific set of button presses before it will work. For example, to begin searching for my Switch, I must first press START Y, which then initiates the search and pairing process, allowing me to begin. This device is ideal for tossing into a bag! It came with a protective case, which I used once before realizing it was completely useless and tossing the controller into my bag without hesitation. It's also great to keep around for multiplayer games on other people's Switches because it's so small. br>br>If I had to buy another one of these controllers, I'd choose the one with the hand grips over the retro-styled one. This one, on the other hand, is fantastic if size and portability are important.

I paid full price for an open boxed, faded item that was no longer in its original packaging
3/5

While I appreciate having the carrying case for this controller, we were hoping to obtain it in its original packaging. I examined the controller after removing it from the carrying case. I paid for a brand-new item and received one that had been opened. This controller was in the carrying case, not in the original 8bitdo box. I had no idea it wouldn't be in the box when I ordered it. The back tag, as well as the instruction pamplet, are both discolored, as if they've been sitting around or used. I know most people will throw away the box and the instruction pamphlet because the paper is yellow and the very middle of the pages are still a little white. I don't, and the Switch box joins the rest of the Switch boxes on the shelf. I paid for something that was supposed to come in its original packaging from the manufacturer. There hasn't been a controlloer in sight. A refund request was sent back.
