Questions & Answers

Which is better for a first-time nintendo switch pro controller buyer: this retro controller or a standard nintendo switch pro controller?

It all depends on the games you want to play. The 8Bitdo is ideal for retro games as well as games that only require a basic controller. The feel and simplicity of the 8Bit appeal to me. The pro controller, however, is required if you want to play games that use motion controls and/or amiibo, as the 8bitdo does not.

Is it compatible with Apple's iOS operating system?

I haven't tried it yet, but I believe the instructions will include the steps for iOS. My Nintendo Switch is the primary device I use.

I'm curious as to what the four lights at the bottom represent. The first is always on green light, but the others haven't changed at all?

It can be used in a variety of ways. When charging, I believe it indicates how much has been charged. It also has a feature that tells you what type of system it's connected to (1 for Android, 2 for Windows, and so on). The instructions and firmware updates are available on the product website, but the majority of it is laid out in strange directions.

Is it possible to use this with a non-classic or original SNES console?

If that's what you're looking for, they sell controller port adapters that can be plugged into most retro consoles. They also sell USB bluetooth dongles if you're using an emulator or emulation machine without bluetooth.

Although not flawless, it is an excellent match for the Switch
4/5

So, I've had a pair of these controllers for a couple of weeks now - Putting them through their paces is a good way to put them through their paces. The SN30 Pro is a great controller for the most part, especially when used with the Switch. Advantages: br>br> br>* The form factor has a long track record of success. If you like the SNES controller, the SN30 Pro is a great upgrade to the compact efficiency that the SNES controller brought to the early 1990s. It's the most portable, fully functional controller I've ever used. br>* It's got just the right amount of weight and feels excellent in the hand. Put it in your bag with the Switch and you're good to go. br>* The D- is an abbreviation for "disappointment. " The pad is PERFECT for retro and retro-inspired decor. games in the style of
* A- The Y buttons are extremely responsive. br>* The internal gyroscope is actually quite good. br>* Because of the small for factor, the shoulder buttons are functional. There is, however, a snag. See the "Disadvantages" section for more information. br>* The battery appears to last indefinitely, and the device accepts USB-charged devices. When traveling with the Switch, there is no need to bring an extra wire. br>br>Contrary to popular belief, there are a number of disadvantages to using this product. br>* In such a small form factor, there are simply too many buttons. Users will be frustrated by games that require them to quickly switch between different button combinations. Because the buttons are so close together and cramped, I found myself slipping off the ZL or ZR buttons during key sequences, or even worse, accidentally hitting the L or R shoulder button. br>* You'll have to re-enter your password every now and then. Connect the Switch to your devices. br>* I find the analog sticks to be a tad too sensitive and a tad too stiff. This is, however, manageable and only necessitates a change in playing style on the part of the user. br>br>However, these are minor quibbles. Surprisingly, the controller performs admirably, but it suffers from a retro design that is overburdened with modern conveniences. Everything functions properly, but some applications perform better than others. This isn't going to take the place of your Pro Controller. However, I cannot emphasize how useful it is to have a few of these in your bag with your Switch, especially when it comes to retro games. The SN30 Pro is a great accessory for the Switch, even if it isn't the ideal controller.

For PC gaming, it's completely useless
3/5

Don't bother if you're going to use it as a bluetooth computer controller. x-rays are a type of x-ray. This controller does not support the input that your computer requires, and it does not work with Bluetooth. This should have been clearly stated in the item description, but it was not - My guess is that it was done on purpose to dupe people into buying something. When you connect via bluetooth, all of your buttons will be incorrectly mapped, and you'll need to download third-party software to remap them to mimic x-ray vision. So that your computer games understand how to use the controller, you'll need to provide some input. The only advice you'll get on the internet is to buy a USB adapter and avoid using Bluetooth, both of which are completely useless. I'm disappointed that this wasn't stated in the description; instead, I'll purchase a proper Xbox controller, as I should have done from the start.

My All-Time Favorite Game Controller
5/5

Pros: Amazing, entertaining, and retrobr>br>Con: The D Pad is a little sticky (see the second to last paragraph for details; it's not THAT bad)br>br>This controller is fantastic! br>br>Over the years, I've gone through far too many third-party controllers to keep track of. They performed admirably in the majority of cases. They did, however, always have some feature that I desired but could not find elsewhere. There was always something irritating about this game, whether it was the button response, ergonomics, joystick tension, or connection reliability. br>br>8BITDO nailed it with this one! It has all of the features of a modern controller, but with a retro look that my friends will appreciate when we play multiplayer. br>br>It took a little getting used to joysticks on an old school SNES shape. This controller isn't nearly as comfortable to use as an Xbox One controller or even the joy cons in their controller grip, but that's beside the point. It's a fun controller that works well and is simple to get used to. br>br>It's simple to set up and I've had no problems playing Breath of the Wild with it. The motion controls are even more fluid than the joy cons themselves! Perhaps my mind is deceiving me. br>br>The D pad is the only thing I have a problem with. It's not bad, but if you slide your thumb from one direction to the next, it tends to get stuck in the first. Consider the following scenario: You might get stuck in the down position in a fighting game where you have to quickly fire off a combo with DOWN, FORWARD, and Y. This controller could have used some tweaking, but it works so well overall that I'm not too concerned. br>br>Great job, 8BITDO! I'm hoping you'll do something similar with a Gamecube controller design in the future. Perhaps something along the lines of the Hyperkin Procube, but better;.

RetroPie isn't compatible with this
3/5

It communicates with Raspbian without a hitch. RetroPie will not connect to it. Yes, I was using the most recent version, and I was using a Raspberry Pi 3b platform to run it.

For your emulator box, this is the ideal retro controller
5/5

This is the ideal companion for a Raspberry Pi that runs RetroPie or Recal Box. It's the same height and width as a SNES controller, but it's a little thicker to accommodate L2 and R2. The analog sticks aren't quite as tall as those on a Dual Shock or an Xbox One, but they're still excellent. Also, it's very well constructed. I haven't needed to recharge it in a long time. The battery lasts a long time. The only thing I wish it had were six face buttons in addition to the four shoulder buttons, as this would make it a perfect Sega Genesis controller, but that's the standard these days. It performs admirably in all other areas, including dual-stick PlayStation 1 games.

The controller has a cheap feel to it, and it is defective
3/5

Buttons are soft and flimsy. My controller was refusing to charge. It came with 2 out of 4 lights on the battery charge level, and after 12 hours of being plugged in via USB, it went from 1 light to no lights and wouldn't turn on. Even though it wasn't plugged into a power source, the charge light remained illuminated. I tried a few different charging sources, but none of them worked, despite the fact that they claimed to charge the PS4 controller, phone, tablet, and other devices. with no problems.
