These tiny caps are incredibly easy to misplace or lose. This is my second time using the cup; I prefer it to the square piece because it helps to block the light. My camera has a swinging digital screen that requires me to remove the cup in order to open or close the screen because the cup dipped far enough into the screen area to prevent opening or closing. Otherwise, I'm content to put up with the minor inconvenience because I value the camera's feature as well as the cup's comfort and convenience. If you'll pardon the expression, it's more useful than bothersome.
So I bought these because I needed a larger eyepiece to get my face further away from the cameras so that the back of the camera would match my nose. That was not the case with these. The first is a copy of the original. While one appears to do the job, the rubber is too hard to press against in order to achieve a good seal. Over all, I give it a three because it'll get the job done in a pinch but it's no substitute for the softer, better models.
I bought my camera about a month ago, and after about a week, I noticed that the eye cup was missing. So, after getting tired of it, I decided to order this kit. It is well-fitting and secures the camera, and there is no risk of it falling off, as my previous one did. With the longer one, you get more distance from the camera and can try to maneuver it a little easier.
I purchased this for my Canon T6i, and it is exactly what I required. Both eyecups were a perfect fit for the dangers. The oval is ideal for establishing some distance between you and the camera, as well as blocking light effectively. The standard size is a good backup that fits into my camera bag easily. The price is reasonable. highly recommended.
You won't need to buy another for a while because the material is soft but sturdy. The round one is ideal for bright environments or extremely sunny days. Where your eye meets the cup on the regular one, there is a soft cushion. Great.
The eye cup helps to prevent ambient light from obstructing your view through the view finder. It also aids in keeping the eye and viewfinder at a constant distance. That aids me in diopter enhancement as well as ensuring that my image is in focus. You could get by without it, but for the price, who wouldn't want assistance in ensuring that they have the correct focus?.
" Arrived promptly, and both eye pieces on my 80D were a perfect fit. Note that if you use the full surround "cup," tilting out your folding screen to the side, if your camera has one (tested on 80D), will cause some interference. Perfect for blocking most light in bright environments, and while it isn't an issue for me, it may be for others! Would buy again and will most likely do so because I always misplace these things, but the fit is very secure.
The rubber is soft, but it will eventually dry out and split.
