It will, in fact.
Yes, it syncs with my Sony head unit and Apple CarPlay.
So far, it's worked as an extension cable, which means that if your phone can control a stereo that's plugged in normally, it'll work through this as well.

Plastic nuts that hold things in place can't be overtightened because they'll strip out. I flush mounted two of these in my 2008 Tacoma where the cigarette lighter and 12v power supply used to be. They're nice, but the large plastic nuts that hold them down (sandwich between dash material) can't be tightened very much or they'll skip over the threads and loosen. I wish they were made of metal or had a more precise cut.
As a few others have stated, the biggest issue is with the plastic nut used to tighten it. I replaced my stock sockets with two of these, and even the lower profile nut was difficult to tighten, as the edges kept slamming into the back of the panel. I eventually just started spinning the front part to tighten it down while keeping the nut on the backside still in place; I didn't have any problems with them stripping out, but it took a lot of force to get it tight enough to keep it from wobbling.
This was used to connect my Pioneer stereo to a plug. It's what I use to connect my phone to Apple Carplay when I'm driving. Overall, it's a good product, but the nut that secures it to whatever you put it in is flimsy. I couldn't get it tight enough, no matter how careful I was.
This outlet was purchased to replace an existing power port in my car so that I could connect it to my receiver and use Apple CarPlay. It's a good fit, and the cable hasn't caused me any problems. It runs smoothly on the most recent version of iOS. Be careful not to overtighten the nut that secures the outlet to the panel because it is plastic.
This plug is connected to a JVC KW-100. I replaced the head unit in my 2008 Ford F150 about a year ago with an M740BT. I was able to drill a small hole in the dash and install this plug, which appears to be factory-installed. So far, I have had no problems using this with Android Auto.
In my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee, I replaced a cigarette lighter with this. It functions admirably. I bought a Pioneer radio with a USB port on the back to replace the old one. That's where I plugged it in. I can now connect my phone to the radio while also charging it, and the price is very reasonable.
Fits in my dash like a glove, replacing a standard 12v cigarette lighter receptacle. This allowed me to extend the USB port from the back of my head unit to the dash. I only gave it four stars instead of five because the included rubber cover could have been improved.
I used it to connect my phone to my car radio so that I could use Android Auto.
