Questions & Answers

Is it possible to simply bury this wire in the ground?

I bought the cable they use for low voltage outdoor landscape lighting (at Home Depot) for my in-ground installation. It's cheap, does a fantastic job of transmitting the signal, and can be buried directly. When aluminum is in direct contact with the soil, it does not perform well unless it is properly insulated. FYI - I've worked as an electrical contractor for 35 years, so I'm familiar with direct burial cable. I hope this information is useful.

Is it correct that the thicker the copper, the better the signal?

Greetings, William, and thank you for your inquiry! The thicker gauge will, on average, transmit signal better than the thinner gauge. I hope this information is useful. If you have any additional questions, please contact me and I will gladly assist you.

Is this wire flat enough to run under a carpet that covers the entire room?

Even speaker wires should not be run directly beneath the carpet. Wire that runs beneath carpeting is crushed and ground by the fine grit that passes through the carpet, and the soft vinyl insulation beneath the carpet fails, allowing heat to build up until the carpet catches fire. It's a leading cause of electrical fires, which is why the electrical code now mandates that new installations use arc fault circuit breakers, which detect failing insulation and turn off the power. When speaker wires are hidden beneath the carpet, the fault power is limited only by the amplifier's output power. Any audio amplifier capable of driving 14AWG speaker wire can generate enough heat to ignite a fire under a carpet if the insulation fails. Because amplifiers do not pass the high-frequency current noise of a developing fault to the power line, an arc fault circuit interrupter will not turn off the power. br>The safe options are all tedious, unpleasant, or difficult to put into practice. You can run the wires in a different direction to follow the room's perimeter, even around a door frame to avoid an opening. You can use a combination of under-carpet wire protection and under-carpet under-carpet under-carpet under-carpet under-carpet under-carpet under-carpet wire protection. To maintain a flat carpet surface, use carpet padding. You can also run UL-listed cable (note: this is not recommended). This product isn't) through walls, ceilings, and floors to appear where you need it, though a renter might need the owner's permission to do so. br>When the wire is smaller, it may be easier to conceal it. Aluminum is one of the best conductors pound for pound, but it is not a dense metal. This is a CCA wire, which has the same resistance as aluminum wire. Copper is twice as good a conductor as aluminum or CCA in the same wire size. A 14AWG aluminum or CCA wire has the same resistance as a 16AWG copper wire, but it is much smaller, more flexible, and easier to hide.

Why isn't it stated on the package which is positive and which is negative? Is it that difficult to include that information?

Hello Erik,br>When connecting speaker wire as a standard, the solid or dashed white lines on the individual wires indicate whether the cable is positive () or negative (). The negative (-) cable is the other one that isn't marked (no dashes or white lines). ) cable. Using our GearIT speaker cable, as long as the white line is as positive as possible throughout your entire setup, your equipment should be properly setup and perform as intended. br>If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Aluminum cables provide a low-cost temporary audio solution
4/5

The cable is in good working order. However, I believe there is some misunderstanding about CCA, which I will try to clarify. Take my words with a grain of salt because I'm not an expert. br>br>These cables are CCA (Copper Clad Aluminum / Aluminum), which means they're mostly aluminum with a very thin copper coating. This is important because Aluminum conducts electricity much less effectively than copper (higher resistance)! And while painting an aluminum wire with copper may improve it slightly, it is still not a pure copper wire and thus cannot benefit from the same benefits. br>br>Before purchasing this cable, you should be aware of the following key distinctions between pure copper and aluminum wiring (CCA): br>Assuming both cables are structurally sound, there will probably be no audible difference between them. br>However, aluminum wiring degrades much faster, is much more plyable and prone to snapping, and has greater malleability, meaning the wire will literally melt under pressure. It also oxidizes faster, lowering conductivity. br>CCA cable will be suitable for short-term (a few years) indoor installations (due to the fact that frequent temperature fluctuations will wreak havoc on the aluminum, causing the strands to snap within the cable, cutting conductivity). br>It's a good temporary and low-cost audio cable solution. If you're doing in-wall installations, you'll need CL2 or CL3 rated cables, which are designed specifically for that purpose. Finally, if you're doing a professional audio installation, I'd recommend using pure copper, stranded cables with a low gauge. The term "oxygen-free cables" (OFC) is merely a marketing gimmick. All copper cables are already oxygen-free up to 99 percent of the time. 0% due to cabling standards, the "oxygen free" term means adding literally less than 1% more oxygen free and charging you a high premium for less than a of purity and.

It worked perfectly on the Apple AirPort Express Base Station and other devices
5/5

To set up an air play, I used it with an Apple AirPort Express Base Station, a 100-watt audio source, and Definitive Technology AW 6500 speakers. My iPhone now allows me to control my speakers.

This is a white speaker wire that appears to be of good quality
5/5

It's a huge step up from the cheap wire that was previously used. It's a white speaker wire that appears to be of good quality. Definitely a step up from the shoddy wire that came with my home theater system.

Pulls apart easily and cuts/strips cleanly
5/5

I went shopping for 14-year-olds for a couple of days. Check out the speaker wire before you buy it! It pulls apart easily and is simple to cut and strip. It did come with a black line to indicate negative wire, but other than that, I'm very pleased with my purchase. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat!.

It was ideal for the task at hand
5/5

It was ideal for the task at hand. I made use of the Grace Digital GDI-XXXXXXXXXXXXXX BTAR512N (Black) 100W Integrated Stereo Amplifier with Bluetooth Wireless Receiver ($149). 3- to power Dual LU43PB 100 Watt 3- to power Dual LU43PB 100 Watt 3- to power Dual LU43PB 100 Watt 3- Black Indoor/Outdoor Speakers (Pair) ($34. 95) 97) is wired with 14-gauge wire. GearIT 14AWG Speaker Wire (100 Feet / 30 Meters) White High Quality Speaker Wire (48 Meters) ($18. 99). My total was $225 because I also purchased banana plugs. 00 US dollars This amp is perfect for these speakers, and I have a half-acre back yard where I can hear the music clearly all the way to the end. The Bluetooth connection is excellent. I have the receiver in my dining room and can control everything I need (volume, next track, etc. ) while sitting outside on my deck. I have not yet used the remote. I just used treble 1 and bass 1 and left it at that. Because the amp does not overpower, there is no distortion at maximum volume, and there is no white noise when the music is turned off. This will be PERFECT for parties or just relaxing outside and drinking with my wife; it will NOT shake your house, but it will provide crisp, clear, and clean sound quality. Unless you're using banana plugs, I don't recommend going above 14 gauge wire because the holes on the back of the amp are only wide enough for 14 gauge wire. I COULDN'T BE MORE OVERJOYED!.
