Simply Speakers 8 Inch Foam Speaker Repair Kit Compatible with JBL 116A, 116H, FSK-8 (Pair)

I wasted about a minute learning how to replace the foam. Since I overworked the inside edge (where you glue first), the foam started warping like a roller coaster so I had to remove it and use the other edge. I applied my lighter touch to the inside of the speaker this time, and did that for a minute or two, before temporary reinstalling the thick gasket (that was removed) and flipping the speaker. After waiting for an hour, I glued the frame edges of the foam, then I glued the thick gasket on and I flipped the speaker over and pushed down on it Once it had sat over night, I installed it back in the enclosure and tested it. The sound was good, there was no distortion at all, and that is how I first noticed the failed foam. Overall, I am satisfied, it fits just fine and installation was not that difficult. I am also grateful that the other speaker is working, if it wasn't, I would have had to buy more speakers.

Kit is of very high quality and the video instructions are excellent. I have a brand new pair of JBLs. Make sure you watch the video and do a trial run before you glue the part together. In video glue, it takes a minute for the glue to set, but it gives you time to adjust if you need to. Remove the bulk of the glue and foam on the back of the cone by gently rubbing it with a finger. Ensure that you use enough alcohol to get rid of all the glue residue. applied it with an eye dropper and let it soak into the frame for a few moments. A few passes around the perimeter of the frame are needed to get the glue to tack and hold. Gluing the surround to the back of the cone was pretty straightforward. Glueing the surround to the frame was more challenging. I just need to work for a minute or two more.

It once again gave me great satisfaction to successfully repair a pair of JBL 4408A Studio monitors, allowing them to serve my main surround setup perfectly. This was both an easy and rewarding experience, and I wish I had another set of speakers that needed repair!.

In my search for some samples of the remake, I consulted the Internet I have a foaming problem on My first thought when this kit arrived was that I could use it. It turned out much better on my second try than it did on my first, but both speakers were saved The foam erupted. I simply expected them to do what they did. I am glad.

So I was able to save a pair of speakers and save money. A very different approach was required than what was outlined in the directions. It was a great help to watch the instructions on YouTube.

There was no problem with the glue working and it was fairly quick, but it is easy to overdo It may come across as ugly, but I was successful in restoring my speakers to life and they are sounding.

A set of JBL speakers in mint condition sold for $5 at a local thrift store. Only one ear piece needed to be replaced, but the rest were in great It was so easy to use that during the first day after I received it, I was jamming out with no idea what they were. Those who need to rebuild speakers that need a new set of foam but otherwise are in good condition will find this product useful.

While the product works the way it should, the glue takes too long to dry A foam-like substance We were much more frustrated than we expected with the speaker's operation. This is because the glue doesn't adhere to the speaker, so all sides of the foam piece have to be held down simultaneously, which is effectively impossible. This particular type of adhesive was perhaps not the best choice, or maybe just the cheapest one? The bottom line is that the glue set up and the speaker was repaired eventually Once that was done, everything worked as it should.
