I didn't know exactly what to expect when it came to the Having tried a single one so far, I found that it fits perfectly into the female RJ45 port. I have security cameras that go outside, so I wanted something to protect the RJ45 from bugs and moisture. This seems to do the trick. Nevertheless, it is still a lot better than leaving the port open and allowing water to pour over it. I like it.
This is a great little plug, I'm using it to cover network ports in my switch and gateway that are currently unused. Their fit is snug and they appear to be well built, and I'm confident that they will provide me with years of service. The price was only twenty cents per one, so I think it is a pretty good deal for $10 for 50 of them! For those who have a lot of ports they wish to protect, this is the right approach.
Purchasing this software is a must for installers or IT administrators. When I conduct commercial or residential Ethernet network installations, dust will over time be an issue. I always keep one of these dust caps on hand to protect my hardware. The patch panels, switches, routers, and unused keystone jacks that I use these for can be covered by these covers. I have had no issues with them. No problems have arisen with the insertion or removal of the device. The following is for folks who have. Probably you are forcing them all the way into the RJ45 port, which can't be right. I have no idea what you might be doing wrong.
It does everything it's supposed to do. A snug fit and a strong seal appear to keep dirt, dust, and mild moisture out. To remove them, you simply pull out a small tab, but it is not as easy as pulling them out with It seems they are not designed to be removed very often. In my opinion, they are equally as secure as the ones that click in, and probably do not wear out the ports quite as much. As a recommendation, I would.
You have to be careful when inserting these, but they work well. In fact, it is very easy to insert them too far, making them difficult to remove. Their softness and pliability make them very easy to handle. Perhaps it would have been better to use hard plastic rather than soft rubber. Still, they are going to do an excellent job.
This plugs the holes well and keeps dust at bay. This mesh router AP was what I was looking for for my garage. Due to the abundance of extras, I have no excuse not to use them indoors instead of outdoors. Whether I use my plugged in ports is not very important to me, so I had no trouble removing them. Ideally, you should look for something that has a bigger removal tag if you are going to remove and replace the device daily.
There is construction going on at work, so I plug critical RJ45 ports on certain equipment so that dust will not enter. Despite my concerns about heat, I have not noticed an increase in temperature after installing these plugs, and the softness of the plug means they will not damage the port. I was concerned about heat, but after checking my gear, I have not noticed an increase in temperature.
This is a great way to utilize unused Ethernet outlets, and it is very easy to install.
