Make sure all old foam is removed from the cone before you start
If the outside diameter of the surround is larger than the diameter of the kit, order it. For example, if you have a 12" speaker, the surround on the speaker may be just a little less than 12", but a 12" kit will still Although you will have some margin for error when gluing the cone to the sphere, you should make sure that you get the border centered so that you have the same thickness

It was the thought of scraping the old mess off of the foam that the majority of us were scared of, but they show you how to do it almost risk-free. At first, I was afraid of gluing. However, once I started, I realized it was basically just normal Testors model glue in a thick viscosity. The foam ring is smaller than the housing, so it does not fit flush with the housing, so I could not give it five stars. My eyeballing was the only way to ensure that the image was centered and evenly spaced. switched the order of installation and instead of gluing the plastic ring onto the foam, I glued it on top of the foam right side up after testing. Later on, I turned the foam over and spread glue along both the inner and outer edge on the bottom. After that, I flipped it over and lined it up the way it's supposed to be, pressed the edges flat, and finally glued it down to the As opposed to pressing the cone upward, I tapped the inner foam down so that it would not raise the outside edge. After a minute or so of that, everything was set and I was able to keep working the I ordered my first two packs of 2 in 10 before I realized I needed them in 12 in. In the end, they refunded me as soon as possible and told me to keep my 12" and keep on using it. I was very grateful for that, because it gave me some extra glue just in case. Even if you use half of the tube, four cones is not enough, never mind.
There might have been a bad luck for me. There may have been difficulty repairing speakers for me. not as good at this as I thought. However, if you have never changed a speaker surround before, it can be a very time-consuming and difficult experience dealing with sticky glue residue all over your hands, table, floor, while attempting to remove the old surround with as little damage as possible to the cone. In any case, it took me many hours on it, not just a quick 30 min project. Distractions aside, let's continue. The product itself is really great. This kit came with a lot of adhesive that was ready to use when you needed it, and the material feels like it is of quality. When the old material had been removed, the installation of the surround was very simple and straightforward. It seems like this kit should be priced a few dollars less, and is quite expensive for how simple it is, but I'm hoping the new surround will last for many years. **crosses fingers** The instructions cover most if not all of the process, and are a far better option than some instructions out there. They also describe the installation of the material in great detail. Unfortunately, I wish there had been more ways described for how to remove the old material from my paper cones, as the rubbing alcohol and razor method did not work very well, and I ended up tearing some of my paper cones in the process. I give this a solid 4 out of 5. It's time to pump up the bass!.
Despite the gray part of the foam still holding together, the woofers were no longer usable because the cones were loose and there was a lot of bass mud. I appreciated the way these instructions and tutorials were written and presented, and found them to be very My cleaning job took a bit longer than I had expected since the foam and glue were stuck in the cone. When I first returned to the hospital, I was surprised at how quickly I was able to recover The cone was easy to center since the foam made it so easy. In short, once the foam was glued to the cones, they centered themselves quite easily, and the adhesive worked exactly as expected. Please let me know if you're able to It's time to get these bad boys out of here!.
As a CV user, I have a pair of AT-style headphones I bought 12's from new in 1990 that did not sound as normal as they should have. As I noticed the foam surrounds were coming apart, I noticed the red foam. As my first thought, I was certain that I would need to replace the 12" woofers completely. I came across these kits during a brief search for replacements for my braking system. This is the perfect solution, at a fraction of the cost of Honestly, i didn't have too much trouble with this and the video is great. As far as I am concerned, the results have been positive and I hope to reap the rewards of these products for another 30 years.
The last time I heard these was about 20 years ago and they sounded terrible when I looked at them back in the early 90s, most of the surrounds were My recent order of the repair kit was installed within about an hour and a half each, with the majority of that last half hour devoted to Despite some issues with the installation instructions, the new surrounds were in good condition and were sized correctly. Considering how much glue is included in the kit, ten pairs of kits could probably be built with the glue that is provided. I did not have to spend a lot of time removing the old surround and adhesive. I found aligning the surround to the cone to be very simple, but don't go overboard with Wearing a pair of blue nitrile gloves will help protect you from the glue, as well as keeping your fingers from sticking to the surrounds or speakers in the event that glue does adhere to their surfaces. I turned the speaker over after I finished the surround and put the gasket back on and let it sit flat on a flat surface for an hour to allow for the weight of the speaker to be applied to the gasket. This ensures the speaker has been completely It was a breeze to reinstall the surrounds, I used the NFC Hotspot bluetooth adapter to stream music from my phone and a Lepai 20 watt amp to test them out. Though I expected this setup to be of very low sound quality, the little Lepai speakers performed beautifully with great bass, and with no distortion whatsoever. It is evident that quality surrounds have improved over their previous generations, and I can easily see these speakers outlasting their old counterparts. The presentation impressed me a great deal. This was a very easy fix to relatively expensive speakers. I love the sound of "real" speakers and can't believe I waited so long to restore them to working order. As things stand, I think they are not going to end up as garage speakers. In case you're interested, I posted a few pictures of the repair beforehand, during and after. A fantastic product!
Well done!.
