As far as I'm concerned, no spacers were necessary for me. As the grill appears to be deeper than it is, it is not. There is plenty of clearance for the speaker to turn.
It is unknown, but it is likely. In the case of Eminence LAB 12, I used it to protect the device.
A sub only 8 inches is not enough

It is very well made the speaker has a very large foam roll -- literally a huge roll. One of these had the most height of any that I could find. There is a 3 inch difference. It was necessary to use some spacers to make sure there was enough A grill that covers the entire speaker is what I am looking for. Below is a brief description of what I I like the way it looks.
