Questions & Answers

Are old shellac records from the 1940s safe in this fluid?

A vinyl record can be filled with G2 Fluid which is designed for use on vinyl records based on PVC. There are three sizes 7 inches, 10 inches, and 12 inches. In spite of the fact that we have used G2 Fluid to clean 78s with shellac and plastic without any damage, we do not recommend it for that purpose. We do not offer a cleaning fluid designed specifically for shellac 78s at this time. Thank you for taking the time to ask! I'm Steve Chase, of

The nap of the brush is pointing one way like the original Discwasher, right?

This replacement microfiber cleaning pad is not directional. It is high absorbent and highly absorbent. While it is more absorbent and effective than the original Discwasher, it is less efficient overall. Make sure to give GrooveWasher a shot. We are offering a money back guarantee if you are not satisfied with our services. The GrooveWasher Company, Inc.

Is it possible to clean a few vinyls before the pad needs to be cleaned?

In my opinion, somewhere between 15 and 18 years old The records number 20. In addition to the groove washer, you'll also need a vinyl vac and a cheap, broken down turntable. In order to keep debris from building up on the stylus after cleaning, this is the best technique.

I'm wondering why a groovewasher kit on Amazon costs so much less than on our website. It is worth 79 Canadian dollars. The 91-day trial vs. the Amazon trial. We are offering a $45 discount. How about 1997)?

The company currently does not sell any products directly through The difficulty of international shipping has caused us to delay the shipment to Canada. Even after manual wet cleaning! Reduces static even after manual wet cleaning! My clean Vinyl Friend wash system is used to clean all of my CD purchases, including new and VG+ vinyl (mostly used, but also new)
5/5

It removes dirt, vinyl shavings, and most of the grease from finger prints on a record. The system is OK and does a good job despite not being a vac system. I found, however, that it tends to leave behind quite a bit. It's lint, isn't it? There are grooves in the record, which pop out as soon as you play it. In turn, this causes a crud deposit on the album after playing as the stylus pulls it out. In addition, the amount of static pops tends to be pretty high on the first play. It was a bit of a gamble to buy the GrooveWasher in order to try to get more dust and lint off after pulling LPs out of the sleeves before listening to them. In saying that, I was really surprised at how strong this method was to remove static on the record! I put the records on the turntable, placed the covers over the labels, and squeezed a couple of light pumps of the included cleaning fluid around each record. After turning the record around two times, I pull the liquid from the record with a terry cloth I usually spin twice around the dry part of the cleaner, then roll the cleaner to the covered part twice. After that, I turn on the turntable, wait for 10 minutes, and then turn it off After the needle is lowered, allow 15 seconds for any more liquid on the LP to dry. There is a noticeable reduction in pops compared to just cleaning wet with the Record Friend. I also see that there is little (if any) residue left behind. In light of the fact that this is only a touch-up You do not have to scrub or push hard to do up cleaning when used this way, so you are less likely to hurt your player or break I think it's a pretty low number The app is quite tech-heavy, but does a fantastic job at touch-based tasks Also, the G2 fluid included with the system does a better job of removing finger grease than the wet bath system. There was no evidence of a build-up After playing some 30 album sides and cleaning as above, the needle went up on my needle. A few times a week, I clean my stylus with Onzow stylus gel cleaner It has been eight record side plays since I used GrooveWasher, and I have not seen any buildup on my Ortofon 2M Red. You can obviously judge for yourself, but I can honestly say this fluid works as well as the old DiscWasher product from the 70s and 80s (which I owned back then). There is no doubt that I will order refills as soon as it becomes necessary. I highly recommend this book!.

That makes me think of the "Discwasher" from the 1970's
5/5

The discWasher kit from the 1970s is nowhere to be found anymore, and I was afraid I would never be able to replace it, especially after reading plenty of negative reviews online that claimed other products to be ineffective or, worst of all, After that, I came across the GroveWasher and gave it a go. I was satisfied with it, just as I had been with my old DiscWasher! There is only one drawback, and that is that it does NOT come with that nice walnut base, which is sold As a result, it does not have a plastic cover like the old DiscWasher did. There is an inexpensive clear plastic food storage container at Wally World that fits this purpose very well. The GrooveWasher really permeates the grooves and gets rid of dirt and grime, you can hear the difference right away! As a result, the G2 solution cleans well without causing damage to the vinyl as alcohol-based solutions can A non-solvent-based cleaner could be used, which is what some other kits utilize.

I feel I am being deceived by this product
3/5

I experience my needles getting coated in gunk after using it. The brush, according to one reviewer, is the problem, while the fluid is the problem, according to the other. If you've used this product, you'll need to run them through a cleaner like SpinClean to remove any gunk that has stuck to your records. This product will ruin your needle, so please don't buy it.

Leaving a record on will destroy it as well as This product does not work
3/5

I applied it to an old record in excellent condition as directed in the directions for the product. I cleaned the record three times before I played There was a skip in the record, and the sound was The tip of the cartridge stylus was covered in gunk after being inspected with a USB microscope. Taking it off is not an easy task. Due to its destruction of the needle, I can't play the record for fear of destroying other needles as well. By transferring the dirt to the needle, the solution softens dirt just enough to transfer it. It may be great that the chemical works, but the cleaning method is unacceptable.

There is no such thing
3/5

I too had a lot of fuzz on my stylus after playing a few records that had been cleaned by the brush/fluid combination. I could also hear additional distortion during an LP side as the fuzz started to accumulate. This is unacceptably rude. As an engineer, I know a lot about these things. My experiment revealed it's not the fluid that causes it, but the brush. When I use this fluid with my old AT 6015 brush, it leaves no fuzz or residue. Having said that, I do not like record cleaning fluids that do not contain alcohol. A useful solvent is IPA, and it can also be used to evaporate anything else. 4 is the choice I came up with In GW fluid, the ratio is 2 The IPA is Water that has been cleaned or filtered. The brush is ergonomically designed and I really like how it cleans records, but I'm not sure why it leaves crap all over them. There is a possibility that the fabric needs to be prewashed a few times before it is turned into a brush.

A real audio product that does not smell like snake oil
5/5

Over the years, I've tried a few different cleaning methods for my LPs and have been frustrated by residue, hassles, etc. I'll say the GrooveWasher system does what it says it will - removes residue while maintaining LP quality. I was able to enhance the sound of both brand new and vintage records. In fact, I found it to be both simple and fun, especially since it was so clear how it worked. Just before I drop the needle, I use the GrooveWasher and then a dry carbon fiber brush. Surface noise is reduced, static is reduced, and the listening experience is improved. We made it here in the United States!.

Dishwasher that has been updated from the Original Dishwasher
5/5

The box of my dad's original dishwasher is still in the attic, but I decided to see what the most updated version looks like since I had gotten back into using turntables and LP players. The new crush works great. My only suggestion would be to include the small plastic brush that you would use to raise the nap on the material (part of the original unit packaging), since it seems like the nap on the new crush is a little less dense than the original. But that's just constructive feedback - it works great and I intend to use it for quite some time to come.

Works well with records that are very dirty
5/5

Despite the fact that the records I'm buying are very dirty, the cleaning solution is helping to clean them very well. After a single cleaning, they turn from horrible to quite good. The spray bottle, however, doesn't appeal to me as much. To be able to better control fluid application, I would like a better interface. Since the spray goes everywhere, the label needs to be protected as well, which is why they give you a label protector. All in all, the program does a fine job.
