Questions & Answers

What are the differences between the G, D, and F series?

The D5 is primarily a cleaner with a small amount of lubricant thrown in for good measure. On the other hand, the F5 is the polar opposite. It's primarily a lubricant with some cleaning properties. Both of them perform admirably. If your audio component switches are scratchy, this usually solves the problem right away. This is what I use on the electrical switches on my motorcycles, as well as all of my audio gear. The G is a letter that I have never used.

When spraying a ceiling fan's direction switch, which deoxit product should be used?

I'd go with the D5 based on the label. "Dissolves corrosion, improves connection, and protects surfaces," according to the description. "Flushing action, non-toxic to plastics," it also says. I used the DeoxIt F5 on my guitar amplifier potentiometers and cleaned them and they are 100% perfect. Great products. The can labels contain a wealth of useful information.

Is the product supplied with gas?

If you mean propellant when you say gas, then the answer is YES.

I'm looking for input: also a buyer What are the best options for vintage 1970's receivers in terms of pots, switches, and RCA ports? Is there a lube for the d5 fader? Deoxit gold d5? a different combination?

For rotating type pots, I've always relied on Deoxit D5. As far as I'm aware, fader lube is only used on slider-type pots.

Does exactly what the can says
5/5

I've used similar gear in the past, but a couple of the slider pots on our church's 25-year-old Peavey powered mixer started acting up recently. It's not ideal when a cute but shrill 10-year-old in the choir ends up with a microphone you can't turn down.

: AAAuuuMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM " Etc. You get my drift. I had to lower the gain on that input, but it took me some time to figure out what was wrong. br>br>I think something was spilled on the board, but I'm getting ahead of myself. br>br>The bad slider was taken care of with a small dose of cleaner. While I was taking things apart, I cleaned all 50 adjustments and put a tiny bit of the lubricant-filled one in each pot. The majority of them were satisfactory, but after a month, some of the more frequently used ones do appear to be smoother. br>I know we'll have to replace this at some point, but this allowed us to extend the life of the old one. br>br>Excellent information. br>br> Notes on br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br br>br>These have a great spray nozzle/tube combo. The trigger also makes it simple to get just a couple of drops if desired. If you weren't careful, most of the ones I've used before would douse everything in sight. br>br>There isn't much of a smell. br>While I am not a fan of solvents, others are. There is an odor to this, but it isn't overpowering and fades quickly. br>br>Won't turn plastic or paint into a goopy mess. br>Your results may vary, but I tested this to ensure it wouldn't eat the paint/lathing or turn the plastic white before using it. That meant I didn't have to disassemble as much.

It's an understatement to say that it's effective! Every time you use it, you get a refund

Prep the area as if you're going to spray WD-40, according to one source. There are 40 in total. Others complain that the cans are too small, that the tops leak, and that the straws aren't long enough. What are you guys doing with your gear, soaking it in the stuff? It only takes a smidgeon of a shot. The straws were already installed in my cans. The cans are large enough to last for many years. There are no leaks, no squandered goods, and no messes. And no, I'm not being compensated for writing this. I was never given a free product in exchange for a review. I was working on a 40-year-old house that needed to be refurbished. year- To make an office stereo, I used an old receiver. I bought this product with my own money and for my own use, based on the reviews. In the middle of a thunderstorm, my receiver no longer sounds like an AM radio. All of the pots have been cleaned and lubricated. My antique receiver has been restored to its original condition. The DeoxIT product worked flawlessly and more than paid for itself. br>br>**UPDATE 12/2019** I use this stuff all the time, and it only takes a squirt to do the trick. A smoke detector just went off in my house. I replaced the battery, but it continued to beep. I put the Lithium battery through its paces and it still works as well as it did the day I bought it. On the battery contacts of the detector, I sprayed some DeOxit. The issue has been resolved. Most people would have replaced the Smoke Detector by then, so the product had already paid for itself.

Excellent item - However, they are mentioned in the literature
5/5

Deoxit is well-known for its ability to eliminate electrical glitches and noise; however, there are three main types of product (plus a few others). The cleaner and oxide remover is the D5 product. The F5 is Faber lube for cleaning volume and fader potentiometers, and it's what you'd use first. That's what you'd do after D5. S5 is the long-term protection for places with high humidity or a higher risk of corrosion, and it's also used after D5. br>br>I just used the D5 and F5 on an old McIntosh integrated amplifier's glitchy volume knob, and it worked perfectly. br>br>On any electrical harness I work on in a car, I use the D5 and S5.

SX-II Pioneer 650 I recently purchased a Pioneer SX-SX-SX-SX-SX- I bought a 650 receiver to use with a Dual 721 turntable I already owned
5/5

br>br> The issue I was having with the receiver was as follows: Every time I touched a knob, there was a constant crackle/popping and static. I couldn't get a good ground from the turntable to the receiver, so the volume would go up and down at random. It would also go silent on the left or right speaker at random times. br>br>Before I began using the product on the receiver, I removed the cover and sprayed canned air to remove all dust and debris. br>br> I started with the red can D5 and sprayed quick shots behind every switch and fader knob on the inside and outside of the receiver, turning them as I went. I then sprayed inside the speaker wires, inside the phono plugs, and even the base of the light fixture (which was not working anyway). br>After waiting 5 minutes, I repeated the process with the green can F5. Because the red can D5 has more solvent to remove corrosion and dirt, you should use it first, followed by the green can. The green can also has cleaner, but it also has more lubricant, which all the moving parts require. br>After wiping away any excess run, I waited about 20 minutes before replacing the cover and turning it on. br>It now works flawlessly, with no buzzing, popping, or audio loss. The lights also came on, which was hilarious. It turns out that the metal in the bulb base can corrode and stop working. I suppose the spray cleaned it sufficiently for it to make contact once more. br> The sprays aren't cheap, but it all depends on the value of the receiver or whatever you're cleaning with them. In my case, buying both the D5 and the F5 and using them to clean my receiver was well worth the money.
