There is a warning that this is not the true 12 gauge wire. It is stated in the ad so I was prepared The copper coating on aluminum is one of its properties. Wire is of low amperage and should be used for light duty applications. I found this to be satisfactory. The product is good for 15 years or more The maximum amount of current allowed is 20 amps.
This wire was purchased in January of 2019 and I installed the brakes on my trailer in June of the same year. From 9 am to 9 pm today I was unable to use my brakes after two hours because they would not work. When I chased electrical wires from my truck to the trailer brakes, I realized that this wire which I used to wire my trailer was rotten and had A copper coating was applied to electrocoated aluminum. I DO NOT recommend that you purchase!.
I would say it's not great and not perfect, but it works just fine. Wire like this has allowed me to hardwire a lot in my RV, which has made life.
