When mating, the center pin can rotate, resulting in a solder connection break in the back. These appear to be fantastic. When you mate an adapter, such as the BNC in the photo, you have a fatal flaw. It will twist/rotate the internal socket within the insulator, putting strain on the solder connection at the back of the connector's solder cup. The solder joint or the wire attached at the back of the connector are likely to be broken as a result of this twisting or rotating. The internal socket/solder cup in the insulator cannot rotate in properly designed SO239 connectors. Because of this, I am unable to recommend these connectors. I'm coming back.
Anything that weighs more than 18 grams will not fit. It's far too small in the middle. I gave this to a friend who is using it for quick test projects because it can barely fit 16 gauge wire. For serious amateur radio use, this is not a good choice. I planned to make a choke out of it, but 14 gauge enamel will not fit unless the wire is shaved down.
Most applications will benefit from this SO 239 connector. The fact that the dielectric material appears to be hard plastic rather than Nylon or Teflon did not sit well with me. Aside from that, it appears to be suitable for antenna projects, repair parts, and a variety of other RF uses. For the price, the quality is excellent.
When soldering a PL259, I noticed that a "new" one fits perfectly, whereas a used one may require some filing to ensure its diameter does not exceed "new. " I'm still giving it a 5 out of 10.
It's a little light duty, but it'll get the job done.
The center pins were all out of alignment. I'm kicking myself for not paying a few extra dollars to get it sooner. Let the buyer beware (caveat emptor), according to the adage.
Joints made to the pin are brittle and prone to early failure as a result of this problem.
