I don't think it's a good idea. This was purchased for the BNC base for the mag mount antenna, not the antenna itself. This was purchased to be used with a Yaesu Ft-100. While out in the field, dial 817/818 for HF/VHF/UHF. Right away, I noticed how inexpensive the coax feed line is. It's ridged and has a lot of loss for such a short period of time. The magnet is not particularly powerful. While I don't plan to use it on a moving vehicle (and never have), I don't believe it would stay put. A flocked paper pad on the magnetic base protects the surface from scratches. I can feel two sharp points beneath the paper, which is extremely thin. The center conductor and shield are most likely soldered to the BNC at this location. The point can easily pierce the flocked paper, causing damage to the surface on which it is mounted. Not to mention the possibility of shorting out the feed, and keep in mind that it's paper, so any water will quickly destroy it and/or leak through, corroding the contacts. br>br>I should have just started with a base, but I was too lazy. Everything arrived on time, and when I tried to mount the base before attaching the antenna, I discovered that the base's connecter was shaped like a d. I'm unable to mount an antenna, and since the bse is required, it's completely useless to me. The packaging was undamaged, and the remaining items were in excellent condition. I'm not sure what I'll do next, but I'm going to order another magnetic mount from a different manufacturer because that's what I need.

It's difficult to find exact replacements for an old Maxon or other brand. These also fit Cobra well, but it's a good idea to double-check compatibility before buying. When it comes to antennas, there are a few key differences that aren't immediately apparent. These are much more efficient than the old ones in terms of serving my CB.

The antenna I bought with it was incompatible with the cb radio I bought with it. I don't believe it should be on the same page as saying that people who purchased this item also purchased these. I believe it would reduce the number of returns as well as the hassle of ordering the correct item and then waiting for it to arrive.

It "might" work with a children's walkie-talkie, but not with a standard CB radio. With this antenna, my radio would not modulate at all. Returned.

I was hesitant because I have an old radio shack handheld whose antenna rubber had finally given out, and I was concerned because this is a much looser connection fit, but it appears to transmit just fine.

As a result, the antenna is the source of the problem. Despite my disappointment, the search for a solution continues.
