I must say, I'm blown away. I wasn't expecting much (in fact, I ordered a few different kinds to compare). Before placing my order, I was concerned that the sliding cover would move too easily and/or fall off at some point. Mind you, I literally JUST installed this thing on my laptop (Mac book), so this isn't a review based on the product's long-term viability; rather, it's just my first impressions. It was very simple to set up. They provide you with small, clear adhesive strips so you can have more control over the placement process. The cover does not slide with normal device movement and requires a little more force than simply touching it to move (see video for demonstration). I'm not sure if it'll loosen with use or if the adhesive will fail, so I'll update it after a while. It also appears that the adhered piece's rim has a lip that prevents the cover from falling off. Yay! Unlike my old (cheap) sticky note cover, this one completely blocks out the light from the outside and produces a black screen when the camera is covered (see photos). My laptop screen also closes almost completely flat, so I needed something extremely thin to prevent screen damage. In terms of thickness, this is as close to perfect as you can get (see photo). So far, everything has gone well. I intend to apply the second one to my iMac once I am confident that it will stand the test of time (I already know it will fit with my cover on). Let's hope for the best!.
Wow, these things are so inexpensive. The markup has to be in the millions of dollars. They were only recently attached. They're a little difficult to handle because they're made of such a small amount of material. But, I suppose, it's slim. They appear to stick well enough, but my laptop's camera area isn't exactly top-notch. Because there is a low-friction zone, adhesive demand is low. Once connected, everything appears to be in order. I believe I paid $6 for three of them, despite the fact that $6 seems like a lot of money to start your own business; however, I only have three webcams, so buying them by the thousand would have been impractical. I'm curious as to how many resellers were involved in this. I hope that 57,000,000 mark up I paid goes to help reduce webcam paranoia :.
) I came across these rare finds. It took a long time to get them, and now I see they're no longer available, but I'm hoping they'll reappear because you'll enjoy them. They're bigger than most webcam covers, but you can tell whether the slide is open or closed just by looking at it. There's no need to guess! Why hadn't this occurred to me earlier?.
HP Elitebook Bang (5" HP Elitebook) Dual cameras are included! Flattens out when closed! I needed something to protect my camera when it wasn't in use, and the tape method didn't work when we had to work from home and have hours of video meetings every day. After a few weeks, the tape was no longer sticking. I found the sliding camera covers on the internet and was skeptical that they would work with my large laptop and dual front-facing cameras. This one is the perfect fit for the two cameras. The laptop folds into a flat position when closed. I've already told everyone on my work team who uses the same laptop about it.
For my particular application, the wide aperture opening is ideal. It ensures that when a win angle web cam is opened, none of the edges are blurry. It's barely noticeable on my 27-inch iMac display.
It's a simple fix for keeping your camera from constantly scanning your surroundings. It's fantastic, and I can rest easy knowing that my camera is only turned on when I want it to be. For working from home, this is a must-have!.
They don't stay put very well, but they work fine otherwise. I was using it on an iPad, and the case was getting in the way. I switched to a new case, which fits perfectly. I'm glad it came with three, just in case one of my kids breaks it or it loses its stickiness.
I used to think that putting something in front of your camera was only done by paranoid government officials, but 1. That is a major concern, as well as 2. This device is useful in everyday situations as well. I work for a company that uses a lot of conference lines with outside clients, and having this manual option to prevent others from seeing my video gives me a lot of peace of mind. When opened, it does not cover the lens and is extremely simple to use. I also appreciate how small it is and how it does not interfere with my laptop's ability to close properly.
