Consider buying this for your ardent artist to open on Christmas morning. as a "major gift. This is a good tablet for beginners
5/5

Starting with the bamboo pen in 2011, then the first intuos, and now this one, I've only ever used Wacom pen tablets. They all seem to work the same way to me. The only thing I don't like about it is the changes to the Wacom website; when I had my bamboo pen, I could get support and updates well into the first intuos' life span. It was fine until a few months ago when I finally got my first intuos, which was about three years ago. I did what I would have done with the bamboo and went to the website to download patches or updates. None of them, however, were successful. I needed a new tablet, so I went out and purchased one. I tried to get away from Wacom because their support irritated me, but my budget wouldn't allow me to upgrade at the time. As a result, I placed an order for this tiny tablet. It's okay; nothing has changed since the bamboo pen; it's smaller and has a longer cord than the original Intuos, which is nice; I wouldn't buy it if I were a professional, but if you're a hobbyist like me or just starting out and want to learn how to draw with a tablet, this is a good piece of equipment. Just be wary of Wacom's attempts to phase out older tablet software when the next generation is released.

Good tablet, but the pen nib wear is the worst of all the Intuos generations
3/5

I purchased it on the day it was released to see if it was any better than the previous two generations of Intuoses, which I also own. These initial comparisons are made without taking into account the nib wear, which is the focus of my review.
- If you compare it to the previous CTL-generation, you'll see that it's a significant improvement. 490/CTH- The pen is now made of hard rubber rather than plastic, and Bluetooth wireless is included (though the touchpad feature of the CTH-480 has been removed). 490).
- When compared to the CTL-II, this is a significant improvement. 480/CTH- The 480 series is comparable in terms of quality, but I preferred the CTL-480's pen. 480 If you like Bluetooth, it's a plus (though it does take the place of the touchpad). br>In comparison to previous versions, the Micro- is a significant improvement. The tunnel in front of the tablet's USB port has been removed, allowing you to use any Micro-USB device. If the one that came with it breaks, you can use a USB cable that you already have. No more waiting for Wacom replacement cables that are always out of stock! br>br>When the new CTL4100 is compared to both the CTL- and the CTL-Plus, the new CTL4100 comes out on top. CTL-480 is a combination of the numbers 480 and 480. The new Intuos CTL4100, model 490, has the roughest texture of them all and eats pen nibs quickly; after only one day of use, my nib has flattened noticeably (see attached photo). br>I know the most common recommendation for preventing nib wear on Wacom tablets is to set the Tip Feel to "Soft" in the drivers, but doing so drastically changes the pen pressure to the point where you can no longer draw with the lowest pen pressures. The best way to get the best range of pressure is to leave the Tip Feel in the middle, which is exactly what I did. Of course, I know you don't need to change a nib if it's just flat because I've drawn on previous Wacom tablets without changing the nibs, but the texture on this tablet feels strangely grippy and rubbery with a flat nib, and drawing on it with a flat nib is noticeably less enjoyable than drawing on it with a smooth new nib. br>For context, I used a piece of paper and an HB pencil to compare drawing on the CTL4100 to drawing on a piece of paper and an HB pencil. When using light strokes, the CTL4100 has a nice texture similar to paper, but when pressing harder, it becomes strangely rubbery and unlike paper. This rubbery sensation becomes more noticeable as your nib becomes flatter, as it has more surface area to grip the texture. br>br>As you would expect from a Wacom tablet, the drawing experience was quite good, and it draws extremely well with virtually no line wobble and no lag. It would have been nice if you could swap out the texture for a smoother surface like you can on the new Wacom Intuos Pro 2017, but as it stands, I'm hesitant to recommend it to anyone who plans to use it on a regular basis for painting and drawing. br>One thing to keep in mind is that, as with the previous Intuos and Intuos Pro, the tablet texture may rub off with continued use. If this occurs, the pen nibs will no longer flatten as quickly. However, even after flattening my nib, I see no wear on my tablet surface, so it may take a long time and a lot of nibs to rub off and reduce the surface texture through normal use, as it did with previous tablets. br>br>Another thing to keep in mind is the software that comes with the package. I understand that the bundled software with the new CTL4100 appears to be a good deal, but you must read the fine print, which states:
Non- Choose one of two softwares: Corel Painter Essentials 6 or Corel Aftershot 3. Bluetooth small version = Choose one of two softwares: Corel Painter Essentials 6 or Corel Aftershot 3. br>Bluetooth small version = Choose two of the following three softwares: Corel Painter Essentials 6, Corel Aftershot 3, or 2-in-1. Clip Studio Paint Pro is a year-long program that allows you to create your own artwork br>Bluetooth medium version = You have access to all three. br>br>Please note that Clip Studio Paint Pro will not be available on the non-commercial version. Bluetooth version for mobile phones. br>It's also worth noting that Clip Studio Paint Pro is only a 2-year subscription. After the two years are up, the license reverts to the basic Clip Studio Paint Debut. There's no mention of it being a 2-inch tablet on Wacom's website. a one-year license None. It's only mentioned on Amazon and Clip Studio Paint's website. br>br>My version didn't have Bluetooth, so I can't comment on that, but based on what people have said about the Intuos Pro 2017 (which does have Bluetooth wireless), I'm pretty sure it has a very good wireless connection. However, the Bluetooth wireless capability doesn't really save the tablet from the tablet's really rough surface. br>br>I believe I could have given this tablet a four-star rating if it had at least an eight-inch screen. Instead of the four nibs that come with it now, it will come with ten pen nibs to address the rough texture. I don't understand why they wouldn't include more pen nibs, especially since pen nib wear has always been one of the most common complaints about Wacom tablets, especially with their rough paper-like surfaces. textures are appealing to me.

A MASSIVE letdown
3/5

It took a long time to get all of the software and drivers installed. It is not compatible with Windows 10. You can draw things, but only tints of pink, not pure gray shades. As a result, the gift that someone was overjoyed to receive on Christmas morning turns out to be a piece of junk that has never been used and is a huge disappointment. IMPOSSIBLE TO USE.

For online education, this is a game changer
5/5

Just to be clear, I don't use this for drawing or art; rather, it's primarily used as a teaching tool for online learning. Having said that, I wish I had received this much sooner. When I teach, I usually use Zoom, which makes screen sharing annotations a breeze. In addition, I normally use a secondary camera (Ipevo V4K) for my whiteboard, but this has been rendered obsolete by this. I can now use a virtual white board instead of a messy real-life white board and camera by using Windows Ink workspace, which has a whiteboard. I still use the camera to show sections of textbooks and other materials, but it's a game changer when it comes to whiteboard drawing. In addition, I mentioned in previous reviews how difficult it was to set up. I had no trouble with it at all, despite the fact that my computer is nine years old. br>First, take a look at what you're going to do. Step 2: Connect itbr> Step 3: Download and install the driver and software (I did this by looking up how to install a Wacom tablet online). br> Step 4: Restart the computerbr> Use.

Free software is a good deal! If you're a beginner graphic artist, these are fantastic! The software included in the package is excellent and worth at least $50
5/5

Extra nibs are included in the bottom of the stylus, but I haven't had to use them yet! Wacom is one of my favorite brands.
