Questions & Answers

Is uasp supported by this enclosure?

Thank you for reaching out to us. Yes, it supports UASP and TRIMbr>With regards to

What does it look like in device manager when it's plugged in? Is it compatible with Samsung software (when a Samsung device (such as the 970 evo) is installed)?

Although it may not appear correctly on all machines, you can work around this by using third-party software. I installed a 970 EVO 1TB SSD. On my Thinkpad X1 Yoga 3rd generation, it appeared as a SCSI device in disk manager. Because Samsung Disk Migration doesn't work with SCSI drives and won't clone the bitlocker-protected original drive, I used AOEMI software to clone the drive onto my Thinkpad. I also ran it through its paces on a Lenovo desktop from 2015. It appeared in disk manager correctly on this machine, and the Samsung Disk migration software worked perfectly with the 970 Evo in this enclosure.

Is it possible to use it as a bootable flashdrive, for example, to install Windows?

The TDBT M is one of the three TDBTs. 2 Enclosure with a Samsung 970 Plus NVMe 1 TB SSD serves as a bootable drive for installing Windows 10 Pro (November 2019 update) in a quick and reliable manner. My backup drives for two raided NVMe M are the other two. 2 NVMe M drives have been upgraded. This enclosure has two SSDs.

Although it appears to be a well-made drive, it will not meet my needs
4/5

I needed an enclosure to put a new Samsung 970 Evo in so that I could clone my current OS NVME drive inside my laptop to the new Samsung and use it as my internal NVME drive. The cloning process went smoothly, but the computer refused to start. After doing some research, I came to the conclusion that the chip in this adapter adds some level of encryption or protection to the drive, preventing it from functioning properly outside of the adapter once it has been formatted. To get around this, I found an old internal HDD and cloned my original NVME to it, then replaced it with the New Samsung, which I then cloned the Old HDD to. The operating system started up without a hitch. br>br>I was planning on using this enclosure for my old NVME as a backup OS and large flash drive, but that hiccup has me worried about what other problems I might encounter with this setup in the use case I had envisioned. I'm going to return it right now, but the build quality is excellent, and I was impressed that it came with a thermal pad and heat sink, as well as a small screwdriver.

Even if this device does not appear in "My PC," "Samsung Migration" can recognize it
5/5

It's ideal for cloning the Windows 10 Professional operating system. br>I was able to successfully use the "Samsung Migration" software that was provided! Please keep in mind that "Samsung Migration" is not the same as "Samsung Magician. " br>br>"Samsung Migration" recognizes this device even when I use this adapter to connect it. br>br>It took me 10 minutes to clone from my old NVMe to a new Samsung 970 Pro NVMe 1Tb using "Samsung Migration. " br>br>At the end of the cloning process. I uninstalled my old MVNe, installed the new 970 Pro NVMe, and powered up my laptop. And, yes, no configuration is required; everything appears to be as it was before! You can keep working on your previous projects if you want to. Everything appears to be popping. As if we were still using the old NVMe SSD, the system boots up automatically. Such a Fantastic Adventure! br>br>.

With USB 3, things are shaky and unpredictable
3/5

I bought this while upgrading my laptop's nvme drive from 512GB to 2TB so that I could copy data faster and use the old 512GB as backup storage. I couldn't figure out why I was having so much trouble copying my drive in Mojave on my hackintosh desktop and in Windows 10 in various utilities. My computer would repeatedly freeze and refuse to recognize the drive. I thought it might be a problem with the factory drive's partitions and file systems, so I tried my old 2010 MacBook Pro via USB. C to USB- A USB 2. 0 interface that is slow. 0 imaging the drive on to my internal hard drive, then back to the new 2tb SSD overnight because it was extremely slow at that speed, but it finished and had no instability, and the new drive worked perfectly with everything copied. I reinstalled the 512GB drive and forgot about it until I needed some extra storage and needed to transfer some files, at which point I took the drive out and tried to use it on my new computer. Using the USB-C cable, I was able to connect to the internet. It came with a C cable that frequently hung up my computer and caused instability in both Windows and Mac OS X. I used an old USB flash drive to test it out. C to USB- It came with a cable that appeared to work properly and did not cause any instability; however, it ran at USB 2 speeds and was quite slow. The USB-C port, I reasoned, might be the source of the problem. C cable, so I bought a new one, but it was still unstable with multiple machines and USB-C. C at a higher rate The only way to get it to work reliably without causing instability is to use the old USB-C connector. C to USB- A cable. I'm not sure why that is, but it's annoying.

It runs quietly and efficiently, and the heat sink is effective
4/5

On the plus side, the transfer rates through my USB 3. 0 port are excellent. The internal 5400 rpm hard drive to the desktop I was using it with was pushing 800 mb/s through 0 ports. It was closer to a terabit per second from the Intel SSD inside, particularly for smaller files. My hard drive was at 37 degrees centigrade (98. 6 degrees Fahrenheit) after transferring about 500 GB of stored jpegs from my desktop. 6 f)- or 16 degrees Celsius hotter than room temperature That's not bad. It also appears to be a very sturdy case, as it appears to be capable of being run over by a car. There are some drawbacks, which is why I gave it four stars. I found the assembly to be a little difficult; The groove in the mount spindle that holds the drive in place was a little too shallow for my WD M. 2 without feeling compelled to drive. To avoid any damage to the board, I spun it up on a machine tool and cut a little brass out of the groove, but I suspect the Western Digital drives use an unusually thick PCB. As a result, the majority of people are unlikely to come across it. Given the presence of two spindles, it may be preferable to make one of them's grooves larger and deeper. Also, the unit's small indicator lamp stopped working for no apparent reason about three days after I received it (which isn't a big deal to me). I'd buy another one anyway, and it's not worth going through the hassle of a warranty return for another unnecessary light source. I'll update this review if the interface completely fails. That does not appear to be the case.

Everything you'll need to get started with a Samsung 970 EVO Plus is included
5/5

The enclosure is also very attractive. Everything needed to install a Samsung EVO Plus 970 drive in the enclosure was provided by TDBT. The USB pcb, metal enclosure, two strips of heat transfer tape, extra screws, and two USB 3. 0 ports are all included in the package. 1 USB C-to-USB C and USB 3-to-USB C cable 1 USB C port on a PC br>br>The instructions were simple to follow, and the 970 fit snugly into the enclosure. They provided extra tape in case I messed up the installation, which I appreciated. The screwdriver that came with the kit was a nice touch. br>br>On my older laptop, USB 3. 0 was not supported. The read speed from the enclosure to my local SSD was 350 megabytes per second for a 3 gigabyte file. The write speed was 300 megabytes per second.

Built to last, but it doesn't work with the heat sink that comes with it
3/5

I bought this to put my old NVME SSD that I removed from my laptop into and use it. The construction appeared to be solid; spare parts, a screwdriver, and a heat sink were all present, and everything appeared to be in good working order. br>br>The bad news is that my SSD will not fit in the drive with the heatsink installed because the drive will not fit properly on the mounts provided. It didn't sit flat in the mount after being screwed in according to the instructions, and using the mount's channel doesn't fit the SSD Groove, contrary to how the product image is presented. I didn't feel comfortable powering it up to try to use it because there is no way to use it with the heat sink and it doesn't sit properly on the mount. I'm returning it and advising people not to buy it.
