It's inexpensive, it works, and it's simple to set up

Because there are no instructions, I'm going to save you some time and possibly some grief here. I've noticed that a few of the comments are contradictory. The installation process is the source of the problems. Have a magnetic 2 Phillips screwdriver on hand before you begin; if you don't have one, don't bother. 1. br>br> The package contains TWO different types of screws. M3 (fine threads) and M6 (large threads) are the most common sizes. Threads are 32 UNC (coarse). Although they appear to be the same, they are not. The M3 screws go into the drive, while the UNC screws are used to secure the bracket. Separate these first (you may need to use a magnifying glass for this). (FACTOID - Factoid is a term that refers to a UNC screws CAN be used in most hard drives because the threaded sockets are usually soft aluminum, and a UNC screw will forcefully cut new threads. However, you do not require or desire to do so. PHOTO 3 shows a standard M3 drive screw next to a UNC 6-point UNC 6-point UNC 6-point UNC 6-point UNC 6-point UNC 6-point UNC 6-point UN 32, as supplied by the drive manufacturers on a regular basis. The M3 screw shown in black is NOT the M3 screw included by StarTech. The panhead versions provided by StarTech must be used. )br>br>2. )br>br>3. )br>br>4. ) The brackets are most likely to be found at the back of the drive (where the cables connect). In your case, this location will accelerate the drive the most. See the first image for more information. 3. br>br>4. br>br>5. br>br>6. It makes no difference whether the drive is installed upside down, right side up, or even 90 degrees sideways. Of course, with these brackets, you won't be able to hang them sideways. In any case, unless you have a specific cable run that works better with the drive upside down (for example, SATA power cables), leave it alone. side up. 4. br>br> When viewed from the end, the bracket resembles a square U. The U's bottom is the bracket's bottom. 5. br>br> Place an M3 screw on the mag screwdriver, carefully lower the screw through the large oval slot, and screw the bracket to the drive. The FIRST photo shows the most likely position with both screws in place. Repeat on the other side, as shown in Photo 2, with the bracket mounted to the drive. br>br>6. Remove the two side panels from your computer case and insert the hard drive into that 5. There is a 25" slot that has never been used. You might also find it easier to take off the front panel. 7. br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br> If your case has plastic quick snap locks, you could use them to hold the drive in place at this point. Even if you do this, at least one screw should be added to the assembly. This is where the 6-digit code comes into play. There are 32 UNC screws total. They attach to the brackets by screwing through your drive case cage. If your case doesn't have support rails for the brackets, use at least one screw in front on one side and one screw in back on the other side to hold the drive in place if you don't have quick locks. If your case lacks support rails, you'll need to use all four UNC screws to secure the drive - br>br>8. br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br> Last but not least, Yes, the bracket has additional holes that will align with standard hard drive screws. Getting them in, however, is difficult, and you'll have to screw them in at an angle. This is not a job for the clumsy or the impatient.

Review for 5 points a quarter to three inches Adapter for a 5" HDD drive
4/5

Because it applies to a variety of products, the rating for these items is useless. This is a review of the 5-star hotel. a quarter to three inches Adapter for a 5" HDD drive. I only gave it four stars because I didn't want a higher rating to be applied to other items in this multi-product listing. br>br>Fits the Seagate ST4000 4TB hard drive. All modern 3 should be compatible. Because of the various mounting positions, a 5" HDD is recommended. A set of screws is included in the package. Four fine threads and four coarse threads are used in this project. Screws for HDDs were once standardized with coarse threads, whereas screws for FDDs and optical drives were standardized with fine threads. There is no reason why they should not use the same screws, but they do not. Many reviewers complained that there were either too few screws or the wrong type of screws included. This is not the case. Screws are provided in the exact number and type needed. The HDD is held in place by coarse threaded screws, and the bracket is held in place by fine threaded screws. My only gripe is that these brackets are far more expensive than they need to be (manufactured for less than a dime). Some seller should offer a multiple pack at a lower per unit cost for those of us who use these adapter brackets frequently, as I did this time because the 3. When a 5" hard drive is installed in any of the three slots, it hits the memory. In the case I was using, there were five 5" drive bays. This bracket enabled me to install the HDD drive in one of the top five slots. Memory sticks didn't get in the way of the 1/4" drive bays. Another option would have been to use low-profile memory, but I had already purchased 32GB (2x16) and decided that simply moving the HDD was the better option. Yes, I would recommend this adapter because it worked perfectly with my Seagate 4 TB drive and I believe it would work with any other 3. Today was the first day that a 5" hard drive was sold. It's simply punched and bent steel that's well-made and free of sharp edges.

It's a little cheesy, but it's a good deal, and it works and looks nice
5/5

I bought a new ATX case, but it doesn't appear to include 3. 5" bays on the outside. I'm the proud owner of a black 3. I wanted to keep using my old case's 5" USB port/card reader. As a result, I purchased this adapter. br>br>It's made of a low-cost plastic (likely ABS or something similar), and the screws are self-tapping. Tappers are used to make holes in plastic. They are self-contained. Tappers, please don't move this thing again. Try to find a permanent home for it, then put it in place and forget about it. You can remove the screws, move the adapter, and then replace them, but you'll have to use a trick to re-install them. self-destructive behavior You must use tappers to avoid damaging the adapter's threads, which will make it impossible to tighten the screws. br>br>Here's how to do it: br>br> When it's time to reinstall the screws, place them in the screwholes and slowly screw "backwards" (as if unscrewing) while gently pushing the screw into the hole. You'll notice the screw "dropping" into place after a while. This is due to the fact that the threads have now aligned, allowing you to carefully screw it in. br>br>Anyway, the adapter is attractive enough, aligns well with the front of the case, and is otherwise pleasing to the eye. It's just a smidgeon too thin.

It fits perfectly, the holes are aligned, and the overall appearance is pleasing
5/5

When I went to upgrade a 2-bedroom apartment to a 3-bedroom apartment, I was pleasantly surprised. It appeared that I was replacing a 3. port USB drive on the front of my box. It was supposed to be a 5" drive, but it was a 5. The new drive would not fit without an adapter because it was a disguised 25" drive. br>br>This one cost about the same as a burger and was delivered the next day. It's made of plastic, but that's the case with almost everything nowadays. It has a bumpy, textured matte finish and is comfortable to wear. It has the traditional three holes on the sides, but only two are required. br>br>My new drive fit perfectly in the adapter, with all of the holes aligned. The entire hardware swap, from cracking open my case to closing it up, took less than 5 minutes.
